An undergraduate degree in Industrial Engineering was in many ways the defining experience of my life, one that has
set me on a path of firm intent and clear direction. During the course I discovered the responsibilities and practices of an
industrial engineer and developed a wide array of talents necessary to strengthen performance in a comprehensive
composite role. I have garnered expertise with competitive tools and techniques that will enable me to improve the
performance of the organization I am associated with be it the public services or core manufacturing sectors.
I applied my innate mathematical, analytical and scientific skills in the mastery of technical content, completely
enamoured by the branch specific subjects and academic topics. Instruction in the principles of organisational vision,
strategic management, short/long range planning and lean practices dovetailed with industry aligned technical learning
made for a harmonious blend. Being equipped with a unique set of skills that would enable me to look at a Operations
Research/ Management related process and have my mind working at multiple levels, analysing the factors and forces
at work behind the production of goods, and easily pick flawed inter-departmental communication, unsettled people
dynamics and resource allocations, contributed to a feeling of empowerment.
As a responsible student, I placed great importance on completing assignments and exercises to perfection, maintained
good relations with my classmates and faculty, utilised platforms for growth and garnered proficiencies with several
programming languages, tools and software applications pertinent to the field. I thrived on the strong networks of
communication I established with peers and seniors. The discussions we had enabled me to gain a comprehensive
understanding of the discipline over and above classroom instruction and prescribed texts.
The final year project was in Global Green Pvt Ltd., manufacturers and global suppliers of pickled cucumbers/gherkins.
The project was to control the inventory of all the raw materials involved, during the various steps of producing,
processing and dispatching. Throughout my stint here, I received exposure to various processes involved in the
manufacturing of gherkins including inventory control, batch processing, automating on the production line and quality
inspection.
Yet another achievement of size and scale during undergraduate studies was my participation at seminar and workshop
on lean six sigma basics where I was exposed to concepts of six sigma, production and ergonomics. The workshop also
proved to be a stellar learning opportunity, exemplary paper presentations and technical authority turning the stages into
venues buzzing with intellectual vigour. Verily a celebration of outstanding thought leadership in the field, some of the
content rich lectures are still fresh in my mind. These experiences added to my firm resolve to narrow down on my area
of passion and pursue my Masters program in US. In my mind I was always clear of my higher education setting. Way
before joining engineering college I had decided to seek a higher learning experience in the US.
Some of my other notable achivements as a student during undergrad studies were I was ranked among the top 10
students of the University in Industrial Engineering during my first year of Engineering. I take pride in stating that I was in
the top rank students in my class in Engineering Mathematics, Financial Accounting and C- programming LAB.
My first exposure to Industry was through my internship at NutriParadise, a start-up venture of the Jain Group of
Institutions. The company was involved in providing healthy nutritious food to school going kids while also campaigning
against junk food. I wrote articles and presented a couple of newsletters discussing the issue of rapid rise of junk food
intake among school kids. We were also involved in providing healthy meals during sports meets of various schools. It
was a great learning expereince.
I am inclined to think my optimistic confident approaches led faculty and peers to place consummate trust in my
capabilities. I cannot lay claim to any extraordinary skills or competencies but for tenacious persistence and absolute
commitment to every endeavour. My communication skills have always been good, my awareness levels high and the
ability to anticipate situational requirements proven.
Currently I am employed with Deluxe Digital Studios - An American MNC dealing with post-production of Hollywood
movies. I have been working as an Associate Conversions and Delivery Specialist since August 2014. My job profile
involves performing quality checks on the language subtitles, converting them into images that appear perfectly on
various screens and resolutions and delivering the project to the client. I use a combination of softwares like Tet-A-Tet,
X-Roads, TURBO, QC Shell, Lobster etc.
My department, being the last in the organisational chain and being closest to the clients, is in particular prone to lot of
pressure as we need to stick to tight schedules and also make sure that the projects are being delivered on time and
with no compromises, whatsoever, on quality. Many times I have found myself working extra hours or on weekends to
complete projects on time. I am also involved, as a side profession, in network marketing for this company called My
lifestyle, an online shopping website.

Industrial Engineering studies equipped me with a strong foundation in a broad spectrum of topics encompassing
Operations Research, Production Management, Project Management, Logistics and Supply chain, Quality Management,
Modelling and Simulation, Human reliability analysis and application of a very wide range of management science
concepts and engineering technology. The most significant impact of the course was, however, recognition of my
strengths and capabilities. Alongside successful completion of academic projects and assignments at my work place, I
also gained experience in taking on supplementary projects of direct relevance and indirect bearing on the shaping of a
true professional. And for these character building opportunities I am indebted to my alma mater.
I recognised a strong pull towards the underlying principles and concepts of Operations Research and Management.
There was comprehensiveness about the subject that drew me to explore its interconnected nature at length and in
depth. The influx of mathematical modelling and critical thinking in managerial decision making excites me while also
going hand in hand with my specific skill sets. The study of modern technological subjects has brought home the
realisation that in a world where most organisations are overwhelmed with information, being a strong source of
guidance and certainty and providing proactive leadership is critical. I am aware that in contemporary contexts, the
Operations Research must have an exceptional aptitude for dealing with people within the organisation and along the
rest. I believe that I have the attributes for a role such as that. I have proven my skills of persuasion and negotiation,
along with the ability to take charge of situations and resolve real time complex issues without frayed nerves. I am
confident that these transferable skills can be applied in a supply chain management job.
I am eager to join the Masters program at The University at Buffalo with Operations Research/ Supply Chain as my
major. In my search for a program suited to my capabilities and requirements I have come to the portals of the State
University of New York at Buffalo. With the specific goal of a long sustained and successful career in the domain, I need
to reconfigure my proficiencies in alignment with the complex and rapidly evolving global economy in mind. The
curriculum at the State University of New York is carefully crafted to incorporate elements of modern frames of
reference. Personalised instruction, a high measure of industry partnerships and case-based studies ensure that the
student body step out equipped for long rigorous work weeks and severe demands on their resources in a real
environment. Enabling graduates to perform in a non-traditional profession and one that is targeted to be a boom field is
the privilege of a handful of forward thinking internationalised institution. The University at Buffalo is all that and more. To
enter its roll calls would be the realisation of a long standing dream.
Armed with international exposure and training by iconic figures I am confident of resonating with multiple global
audiences in positions of power.
