Isu / masalah / peristiwa


The first issue that we faced during this week was to get ourselves the time table,
our Cooperating Teacher and the class that we need to teach. We also being faced
the problem of the place where we will stay for the three months that we will be in
the school. This due to the school that have two session so the table for teachers in
staffs room were mostly occupied by either morning sessions teachers or
afternoon sessions teachers.

It was quite frustrating for us to not getting our time table as fast as we can because
we need them to prepare ourselves and to find suitable material for the level that we
will teach. We also will have to prepare for the lesson plan and in order to do that
we need to know the class that we will be assigned.

The lateness in getting the time table and cooperating teacher may due to the fact
that PK 1 needed some time in getting the right CT for us. PK 1 also needs to find
suitable class for us so that it will make it easy for us to handle the pupils and their
level.

There is no strength and weakness for this issue.

For the second week, we have been going into the classroom and started to get to
know the pupils. So the issue for this week is getting to know the pupils.

As a teacher, it is important to know the pupils as it can help us in controlling the
class better and also make the pupils closer to us.

Kekuatan / kelemahan
StrengthThe strength when I can remember the pupils name is it is easier for me to call
them when I want to ask questions or when I want them to respond to me. I also
can reprimand the pupils that misbehave when I called their name at that time. So
they will be aware that I knew what they are doing and that I knew who they are.
This will also make my relationship with the pupils become closer because they will
feel like I recognize them when I knew their name.
Weakness
One weakness of this was if the class is big, it is hard to remember all the names
and the faces. So I might confused some faces with similar names. Also they will
feel like they are friends with me and worst case can happen is they will not respect

I had asked list name of the pupils in the class from the class teacher and
memorized the names.

One way to improve this is by creating a name card and let the pupils wore them
during the class.
Another way is to create a floor plan with pupils place at their names on it. So I will
be able to memorize the names and also where they seated in the class.

The issue that I faced this week was the suitability of task sheets that I gave to
pupils to their level.

Since my class was year 4 KSSR, they were not streaming according to their level.
This lead to my class having mix ability in their proficiency. That had becoming a
problem to me when I want to prepare task sheet for them because if the task sheet
was too hard, the lower proficiency pupils will have trouble in completing it.

This problem is due to the KSSR programme where they do not have exam to
determine their level. So, in a class, we can have pupils that are excellent in English
and those who are a bit slow in English.

As I said before, this has becoming a problem for me to prepare task sheets for
them as I could not prepare only 1 task sheet. I need to attend to all level so that
they are able to complete the task sheets given.

In order to solve this, I had talked with their English teacher to know the level of the
pupils. After that I had prepare at least two sets of task sheets. One for the high
proficiency pupils and one for low proficiency pupils. I also had search online about
what kind of task sheets that can cater to all level of proficiency.

This week, I had started making group activity with the pupils. However, I realized
that some of the group did not progress well. This is because I noticed that some of
the groups started to fight and some did not participate in the group activity.

I felt frustrated and disappointed with this because group work is one of the great
activities that can help the pupils in understanding the topic. If this problem
continue, I am afraid that I could not do group work again in the class.

Punca / sebab
the cause might due to the pupils are not accustom to do the group work. I had
asked their English teacher and she had told me that these pupils are not used to it.
So they might not know how to cooperate in the group work. When I asked them
why they fought, some of them said that their group members refused to let them
write on the mahjong paper. This showed that these pupils did not know how to
cooperate in the group work and only to complete the work by themselves.

WeaknessIf this problem continued, these pupils will not be able to learn how to work in group

and this might become more serious later. They will not be able to be in group and
be a loner. Those who is passive also will not be able to learn efficiently from the
group.

I need to specify the roles in the group. For example, every member of the group
needs to contribute at least one idea each and every one will have to write their own
idea in the mahjong paper. This way, there will be no argument on who write in the
mahjong paper.

I can give incentive to the groups that have the best cooperation. For example,
giving them token or extra marks for their groups. This can make them stop fighting
and try to make the group work successful.

The biggest problem that I faced this week was the misbehaiour among the pupils
in my class. Before this, there were some misbehavior but it was still in my control.
However, this problem had become too common in my class recently. Some of the
example of misbehavior was speaking out of turn, did not complete their homework,
disturb the lesson, and many more.

I was so angry and frustrated by the misbehavior of the pupils. This is because I felt
like they did not respect me as their teacher and this had make me looks like a fool
teaching in front with them making the behavior in my class. I also feel that my
teaching was not entertaining to them that they wanted to do that in my class.

This might happened because they had though that I can be bullied. This is also
because I was a bit lack with them. I rarely punished them and this had make them
felt that they can do whatever they want.

Weakness
These had bringing me quite a problem because not only these pupils disrupt their
friends but also the lesson. This is because when they were misbehaving, I need to
pause my teaching to scold them and this sometimes makes my lesson cannot be
finished in time. It also had made me quite reluctant in going into the class.

Cadangan idea untuk menyelesaikan isu


In order to reduce the misbehavior in my class, I had come up with the group mark
system. By doing this, each pupils will be responsible to their groups mark. If they
misbehave, mark will be deducted from their group and if they did great, their group
will get mark. If they themselves did not aware of this, for sure their group members
will try to prevent them from misbehave or their group mark will be deducted.

Tindakan susulan
I can praise the pupils that did good during the class. This will create ripple effect
among the pupils and they will be more excited to be good in class. Or I could give
them rewards if they complete their work on time. This can make other pupils to
complete their work to get the reward too.

Pupils did not finish or complete their homework.

Frustrated because the pupils that do not complete the work are the one who are
weak in English. By not completing the homework, they are not practising the topic
that we had learnt.

They might become too tired when they come back from school. Another reasons
was they have too much homework from other subjects that they could not finish all
of them in only 1 night.

This problem interfere with my lesson because I need to check what we have learnt
yesterday. So if the pupils did not complete their homework, there will be blank
page in their workbook and this will look odd when they were doing the next days
homework.

Call the pupil during recess or before class start to get them to finish their work. But
I have to make sure that the pupils had already taken their breakfast or go to
canteen before they come to me.
