Slicing- the technique where a knife is used to cut food
into slices e.g. tomato, onion, cucumber and
pineapples.

Grating- the technique where a grater is used to cut


food into small stripes e.g. chese and carrot

Dicing- to cut into small cubes.e.g. onion, celery.

Boiling- having reached the boiling


point; steaming or bubbling up under the
action of heat e.g. pasta, vegetable

Baking- is the process where food is place in to oven to


bake

Fry- the technigue where oil and a fry pan is used to


cook e.g. chips

Peelingto strip (the skin, rind, bark, paint, etc.) from somet
hing e.g. carrot

Whisking-to sweep, pass, or go lightly and rapidly.


E.g. eggs, cream

Shiftingto put (something) aside and replace it by another or ot
