Description of artifact and how the artifact meets the standard:
As an educator it is important to demonstrate the ability to enhance academic performance and
support for implementation of the school districts student achievement goals by using instructional
time effectively to maximize student achievement.
In order to use time effectively, I make sure that my lesson plans have a time listed for when our
activities should be completed. Also, in my lesson plan we have a specific small group time where
all of the students are working at the same time in different small groups. This uses our instructional
time effectively because we arent pulling the students out of center time for small group. This also
maximized student achievement because the students arent rushing through their work to get back
to center time.
Reflection on artifact (what went right, what went wrong, how to make better):
Having a specific small group time and rotation is extremely helpful because the students arent
distracted by the other students playing at centers. The students are engaged in small groups and
take their time in their work. One downside as a teacher is that I have to teach the same activity for
3 days in a row. This isnt something that bothers the students because they are at a new small
group each day.
