Conferences
Thanks so much for meeting with me
for conferences. If you have
questions, don’t hesitate to call or
send a note. Please return the
portfolios with all of the papers inside
as soon as possible.
Reading
Fish Faces is a beautiful nonfiction
story about the many incredible
species of fish in the ocean. We
learned about different fish noses,
eyes and mouths. The pictures were
fantastic! We also learned about
homophones this week. Now we know
that some words sound alike but are
spelled differently and also have
different meanings, like “sun” and
“son”. Next week the spelling words
are: fall, tall, ball, all, straw, draw,
next bonus word: books
Math
We are beginning a new unit on
Geometry. We are working on
sorting collections by different
attributes. For example, we might

put all of the large items together.
Then we might sort the same items
again by color or shape. We are
also still working on basic adding and
subtracting facts.
March Madness Fitness Challenge
If your child is participating in the
March Madness Fitness Challenge,
be sure to send in their calendar
each Monday. I will keep a list of
everyone who participates and they
will be eligible to win prizes! I hope
to have lots of calendars on
Monday!
