Progress reports will be sent home on Friday.
It’s really amazing we are this close to the end
of the school year already!
Also on Friday, May 6, we are scheduled to have a
martial arts presentation by Mr. Indalos of Victory
Martial Arts School. We look forward to his visit.
Don’t forget there is no school on Monday,
May 9. Grades 4-8 participate along with other
area Lutheran schools in a track meet that is held in
the Sacramento area. Because there are so many
families with children in both the upper and lower
grades it becomes unfeasible to have school with so
many people gone. In addition, the school staff is
also needed to assist with running the track meet
events.
For the younger children we also have a track and
field day approaching. On Tuesday May 17 grades 1-
3 will go to Cahalan Park to compete. On that same
day beginning at 10:30 AM until we dismiss the
kindergarten classes will have an on-campus
morning track and field type events. At the end we
will have a small luncheon. We could use
your assistance with running events
and/or food donations. Watch for
further details regarding ways you can
help.
We are still in the planning stages, but we hope to go
to Happy Hollow on Tuesday, June 7, for our end-of-
year field trip. We may also be attending an indoor
educational/play facility called SwaRay! in Santa
Clara. If possible that will take place on Friday, May
20. More details will follow as they are available.
I wish all the moms of the class a very relaxing
Mother’s Day!

Zoo-Phonics News
Now that we’ve made it through the alphabet we
can begin taking a much quicker look at the
uppercase letters. We will also have the time to
focus on some high-frequency words and other
language concepts.
The reading bookmarks are due today—but anytime
this week is fine. Our last reading chart for the
school year is attached. It will be due no later
than May 31 (but no sooner than May 23 since
there wouldn’t be enough days to complete it
before then.) Remember the goal is 10-20
minutes of reading per day.
Other Classroom News
We will discuss Jesus Ascension and the first
Pentecost this week. Both stories focus on the job
God still has for us—to share the wonderful message
of His forgiveness with those around us!
In math we will work with graphing, patterning, and
identifying missing shapes. Don’t forget to continue
working on your address and phone number with
your child.
