Guide for Tutorial Class Series

ENGLISH FOR NURSING BASIC SCIENCE


A. Goal of Learning:
At the end of learning, students will be able to comprehend human organ
system written in English.
B. Required Materials:
1. Textbook: Tortora G.J. and Derrickson B. 2006. Principles of Anatomy and
Physiology, 11th edition. John Wiley & Sons, Inc. USA.
2. Any Medical/Nursing and English dictionary.
3. Notebook to keep words and information.
C. Learning Objectives:
Being facilitated by each Tutor, the group of students will be able to read,
comprehend and interpret into Bahasa Indonesia and to ascertain knowledge
about Principles of Anatomy and Physiology related to the major human body
systems as the following:
Group I:
SH-Chapter 5: The Integumentary System (page 144-170=26)
SH-Chapter 26: The Urinary System (page 992-1035=43)
SH-Chapter 28: The Reproductive System (page 1056-1103=47)
Group II:
KL-Chapter 6: The Skeletal System: Bone Tissue (page 171-193=22)
KL-Chapter 10: Muscular Tissue (page 290-324=34)
KL-Chapter 20: The Cardiovascular System: The Heart (page 695-735=40)
Group III:
SA-Chapter 16: Sensory, Motor, and Integrative System (page 546-573=27)
SA-Chapter 18: The Endocrine System (page 616-665=49)
SA-Chapter 24: The Digestive System (page 895-949=54)
Group IV:
TS-Chapter 22: The Lymphatic System and Immunity (page 804-845=41)
TS-Chapter 23: The Respiratory System (page 846-894=48)
TS-Chapter 27: Fluid, Electrolyte, and Acid-Base Homeostasis (page 10361055=19)
D. Tutorial Class Project:
The project will give students a broad opportunity to get the end result as
follows:
1. An Indonesian written paper describing the twelve human organ systems
translated and interpreted from textbook above. This paper should be tidily
typewritten, size 12 font. The written paper should include scanning or
downloaded pictures, diagram, and or scheme pertaining to the human
organ system and some appropriate additional references. Hard copy of
the paper and its soft copy (CD) should be submitted as scheduled.
2. Publication of the paper above in the blog of each group.

E. Scoring Rubric for Tutorial Class Project

- Students wrote coherent, well-written
paper using the standard research paper format
- Easily understandable
- No spelling or grammatical and mistyping errors
- Included pathway analysis
- Included the appropriate additional references

In the third week of tutorial class, each student will be tested orally telling about a
sub topic of the paper in English:
