Fourth Grade Newsletter

Writing

During our writing workshop, we will

begin writing a literary essay.
Students will learn how to write a
strong thesis. They will support their
thesis with reasons and examples
based on their text.

Reading

Our classes this month will complete

our historical fiction unit, but will
continue studying history. This next
unit will not be fiction, but rather will
concentrate on Americas Revolution.
The students have really enjoyed the
emphasis we have placed on
American history.
We will learn how to conduct
historical research, develop our own
ideas, and rehearse a debate of

recording it in their reading log.

Math
Our next math unit incorporates
multiplication and division while we
study numbers and their
relationships with each other.
Word problems are an important
part of our curriculum! We use the
Problem Solving steps as a tool to
help guide the students through the

Social Studies

We start January continuing with

Colonial America which leads us into
the American Revolution.

Homework Policy
As a daily skill, students
are given homework each
night. Parents must make
sure all responsibilities are
completed in a timely
manner.

Science
We will be studying living things and their
life cycles in preparation for the State
Science test at the end of May.
