Map of Rainbow :-) Europe.

Dear Family.
Here is a fundamentally updated version of the booklet The Way Home: maps and other useful info aimed at helping you to find the
locations of the European and World Gatherings. I take into account interests of car drivers and those travelling by bike and/ or public
transport. (See next page.)
Ever since July, lots of e-mails have come in with different questions. It is simply impossible to answer all of them personally it is
already the third day I am dealing with this update.... Today, I want to absolutely finish this project beside from a few little updates that
might come in later about the World Gathering in Hungary. That's why, I have decided to write a chapter here with answers to frequently

ThewayWayHome2014.Romania&Bulgaria.P.4/23.Version15/8/14.
asked questions. In the mean time, I try to make sure, that everyone who has e-mailed me until some moment today, 13 August 2013,
will get today's edition of CircleLetter however, I cannot guarantee this for 100%. I offer the info now via a combination of:
this booklet;
the temporary autoresponder travelhome2014@rainbowgathering.eu;
the weekly newsletter by e-mail CircleLetter Briefing see CircleLetter.RainbowGathering.eu;
the website RainbowGathering.eu;
the forum 'European' see European.RainbowGathering.eu.
To be honest, I need to say the following. This is the way I offer you the info you are looking for. This is it take it or leave it. I do not
want to answer any additional question by mail, phone or SMS. If you cannot find here exactly the info you are looking for, please, look
for it at online maps or at elsewhere at the internet. Or get the info yo need from your surroundings or at one of the forums. Or go to a
bookshop or petrol station to buy a good map. Or use your creativity in any other way to find what you look for. However it may be: do
not bother me with it. I am double minded about Google, but for several questions she might be a good friend :-).
Finally, let's dedicate a few words to the time beyond this summer. I am grateful about the several offers for help I already have
received. For them and for anybody else who would like to assist, I will work out instructions this autumn it is simply impossible to do it
in this summer. The instructions will be presented as follows:

at the website RainbowGathering.eu, behind the tab 'Focalisers';

a new forum that does not exist yet, but which will be created later- 'Circle of Focalisers' behind the tab with a similar name;

personal e-mails especially for by example access codes enabling you to upload something new to RainbowGathering.eu.

Via this new forum, you can also help if you are not really a technical whiz kid :-) There, I want to share the kind of dilemma's I need to
solve by myself now - in spite of the excellent communication with several scouts and focalisers in Romania and Hungary. Two practical
examples may make you clear what I mean. Someone has asked me how he could reach the European Gathering from Bulgaria. Another
one has asked me for a bus Paris Budapest. I am sorry I am not Mr. Michelin or Mr. Eurolines :-). How to correctly deal with with such
*#@!! questions? As I said, now I am improvising and crisis managing alone. At the two gatherings in Romania and Hungary, I want to
start to get together a circle of (info) focalisers around me. All those who will offer help or who have already done so, I will put on the
mailing list of that new forum.
However it may be the combination of the above mentioned measures is aimed at making sure that the info focalising system of
RainbowGathering.eu won't be any more dependent on one or a few persons only.
To finish this reflection, I wish you safe travels. Respectfully Yours,
Bas G. Roufs.

How to find the way Home in Romania.

Dear Family
The Home the tireless scouts have found for us is really beautiful. It is an open space with forest surrounding it, close to the little river
Scuieu, in a commune with the same name: Scuieu. (In Hungarian: Szkelyj), in the Apuseni mountains. More info about this place:
article 'Scuieu' at en.wikipedia.org. Scuieu is part of the district of Cluj. It is about 100 km east of Oradea (Growardein, Nagyvrad,
near the Hungarian border), and 72 km. west of Cluj-Napoca (Klausenburg, Kolozsvr). A nearby small town is Huedin: 22 km. north-east
from Scuieu. This town has also German, Hungarian and Yiddish names: Heynod, Bnffyhunyad, or . See Wikipedia.
You can find 'Scuieu, Romania', by copy-pasting those two names into online maps like OpenStreetmap, Viamichelin and Google. Or give
in those names into a navigator or in the Open Streetmap based offline map 'Maps.me', if you use an Android smart phone.

From East (Cluj-Napoca)

Go westbound along Highway 1 (E60) towards Oradea. Drive for 62km until you reach Bologa, then head south along 103H and go
another 12.8km through Sacuieu until you see a big sign Pensiunea Sequoia ..... then turn off from the main road onto a dirt road to
this place (a hostel). Continue driving past for another 500m approx. towards the river. Youll then find the Rainbow car park. The walk-in
is about 40 minutes. Follow signs like ribbons, stones, etc. to find the welcome centre and main area. Welcome Home :).

From West (Oradea)

Go eastbound along Highway 1 (E60) towards Cluj-Napoca. Drive for 92 km until you reach the turnoff at Bologa, then head south along
103H for 12.8km through Scuieu, until you see a big sign Pensiunea Sequoia .....then turn off from the main road onto a dirt road to
this place (a hostel). Continue driving past for another 500m approx. towards the river. Youll then find the Rainbow car park. The walk-in
is about 40 minutes. Follow signs like ribbons and stones etc. to find the welcome centre and main area. Welcome Home :)

Focus on the Rainbow Parking near 'Pensiune Sequoia' & the Main Area.
Let's first focus now on the main area and the parking. A few kilometres south of the village
Scuieu (district Cluj), you will find a sign for 'Pensiune Sequoia' some tourist resort or
hostel. See also: http://www.pensiuneasequoia.ro/
By following that sign, you will come at a dirt road that will lead you to Pensiune Sequoia as
well as the Rainbow parking near that hostel. So, Pensiune Sequoia is a vital point of
orientation. It's GPS coordinates are: 464805.25N 225329.46E.
By tradition, I do NOT indicate here the GPS coordinates of the main area. By means of the
ellips, I indicate where it is roughly. You can find the main area by following typical Rainbow
signs, like ribbons, stones, rainbow symbols, etc.
The map here left comes from Open Streetmap, together with 'Maps.me'. The exact
coordinates from Pensuine Sequioa I have inserted there via info from Google Maps.
Online, this map is available without the info about the parking and the main area.
See: http://tinyurl.com/romaniahome.
Let's zoom out now a bit. The GPS coordinates of the village Scuieu are 464924.06N 225317.66E; when arriving there, you need
to follow the road DJ103H in more or less southern direction until you arrive at the sign of Pensiune Sequoia a few km.east of another
village, Rogojel. From that sign, follow the dirt road to Pensiune Sequoia and look for the Rainbow parking behind it. From the parking,
you will need to follow signs, ribbons, stones, etc. to find the welcome centre and main area.
Open Streetmap/ Maps.me.
The info about the main area
and parking has been inserted
by Bas G. Roufs.
At the next pages, we will
look at this location in it s
wider surroundings.

Budapest Huedin: when carrying a bicycle, train probably better than bus.
(Added by Bas Roufs, 11 August 2014.)
From a few sides, I have received warnings about the Hungarian bus company 'Orange Ways'. There are reports about a bankruptcy as
well as bad, unreliable services. However it may be, already late June, I fruitlessly mailed to the 2 bus companies Orange Ways (H) and
Huben (Ro.) at this line. To my question whether they carry bicycles, I have not received any reply so far. Friends from one of my friends
in Vienna did manage to contact Orange Ways after many attempts. They seem to be willing to carry bikes as well. But given their bad
reputation, I will not use that bus line, unless there is really no alternative.
According to the German train website bahn.de, there is one direct train per day that allows carriage from bicycles: the daily train that
leaves at 6.40h.from Budapest Keleti. According to the schedule, this train should arrive at 13.46h.in Huedin. It is obliged to buy a
reservation ticket for this train.

The Way Home in Hungary

Focus on the Main Area and Parking.

The main area of the World Gathering will be close to a little road with the name 'Ordaspuszta', which is near the village Bercel.
Ordaspuszta is not exactly the main area. However, it is -as far as I understand- 0,5? 1? 2? km. west? east? of it. The GPS coordinates of
Ordaspuszta: 475339.07N 192711.94E. At some maps, I have seen this name like this: 'Ordas Puszta'.

ThewayWayHome2014.Romania&Bulgaria.P.18/23.Version15/8/14.
Here, you have the same map of the same area. Now, I indicate where roughly the main area and the parking can be taking into
account the info I have received from Rai Jos, a Hungarian sister who is one of the focalisers taking care for this gathering.
The parking area is probably inside this thin red ellips at the north-east part of Bercel. Ordaspuzsta is being indicated by the red balloon.
The main area is probably inside the thick blue ellips near the little village/ street Ordaspuszta the red balloon.

ThewayWayHome2014.Romania&Bulgaria.P.19/23.Version15/8/14.

From Romania, Slovakia and Austria

Bercel is in the north of Hungary, close to the Slovak border, more or less half way between Gyr in Hungary and
Uzhgorod, a town in Western Ukraine next to the area where the 2010 European Gathering has taken place.
In fact from all directions, you can find Bercel via the main east-west road M3/ E39: Budapest - Miskolc. When coming from
the west (Austria, Western Slovakia), the east (Ukraine, Romania), the north (Poland/ Eastern Slovakia) and the south (Serbia and
Romania).....: in all such cases, the road M3/ E 39 is a good entry point. Leave that highway at exit 39: road nr.
2108, direction Bag, Aszd, Iklad, Galgaguta and BALASSA-GYARMAT. Continue until Galgaguta. From there leave road nr. 2108 take a regional road to Bercel and Ordaspuszta.
When coming from the north, you can also consider entering Hungary via the Slovak-Hungarian border at the Danube, near BalassaGyarmat. From there, take the same road 2108, direction Aszd/ Iklad. Leave the 2108 in Galgaguta: for the regional road to Bercel and
Ordaspuszta.
Finally, a few words more about the main area and the parking.
By tradition, I do not indicate the GPS coordinates of the main area - even not here in this autoresponder. However, I would like to know
them,so that I can correctly draw/ indicate the main area on a map.
To be clear: the exact location of the parking I do not know yet. For the time being, I presume you must park somewhere in
in the north-eastern part of the village Bercel or close to there.
If you have more information about the parking and the main area, please, mail it to:
info-focalisers@rainbowgathering.eu.

ThewayWayHome2014.Romania&Bulgaria.P.20/23.Version15/8/14.
It is really important that you indicate the exact location of the parking as clearly as possible, as soon as someone can: if possible by
means of GPS coordinates. Another really good way to do it, is the trick of those who found the location of the European Gathering. With
some land owner, they agreed about a parking which is close to a very clear point of interest: in that case 'Pensiune Sequoia' - a tourist
resort. A point of this kind can also be a pub, restaurant, monument or whatever. In the case of Pensiune Sequoia, there is a sign that
indicates where that spot is; the parking there is close to it. If you can give me info about a well-known point of interest between Bercel
and the main area, close to the parking, than I can find out the relevant GPS coordinates myself.

Public transport.
Bus Budapest - Bercel, more info menetrendek.hu;.
Train Budapest - Galgaguta, change in Aszd, more info elvira.hu and bahn.com.
Train connection Budapest - Aszd, more info elvira.hu and bahn.com;
If you take your bike on the train, check at the station of Aszd whether it is possible to take it in the regional train Aszd - Galgaguta.
We (Rai, who delivered me most of the Hungarian info and I) are not sure about this.
You can also consider cycling from Aszd directly to the gathering: about 30-40 km.
