THE STORY IS ABOUT A SMALL YACHT IN THE MEDITERANIAN
SEA, WHICH CRASHES AND WRECKS, LEAVING OUR
PROTAGONIST (TOM HANKS) ON A DESERT ISLAND WITH ONLY A
FOOTBALL FOR FRIENDS. HANG ON, THATS CAST AWAY. LET US
START OVER.
Our film is about Nathan. Nathan is an 18-year-old boy who
aspires to be a film director. This is the basis of our film. The
film starts with introductions to each character, including Polly,
Nathans love interest, a girl that hes in the same school as and
has known for his whole time at school, but not personally. This
is the first time he has plucked up the courage to actually
speak to Polly. His two friends; Seymour Hand and Benji
Crumpet accompany him. The trio work hard to get Nathan in
with Polly, when a film director comes to the school looking for
the next young prodigy. He runs a competition with all the
young people who are aspiring filmmakers, of which Nathan is
one. Through doing this, he thinks that Polly will like him back.
For a time, she does, then he gets too into making this film, and
ends up spending far less time with her than he would like, so
breaks up with him. This impacts the quality of the final film
that Nathan is working on and eventually drives you to find out
that Nathans film came last out of all, purely down to the edit
and quality of the latter half of his film. We then see Nathan go
back to being exactly what he was before all of the advances
made in this film, not even making Nathan a Hero by convention,
which he realises. We also find out that Nathans Dad was a
director before he died, and that he wanted to be a director to
make his Dad proud, because he never really got a chance to
whilst he was alive.
