7 Operating instructions

7.1 Mode of operation

The system can handle 2 drive units, 2 reception units, 2 feed release units and 2 stop sensors. Besides this,
shaft controls can be connected to the drive units. The control unit has 3 optional output relays in which water,
light or external equipment can be connected, as required. When connecting feed release units (UDL200),
optional outputs 1 or 2 on the control unit should always be used. Should anything unforeseen happen during
the process, the relevant outputs are switched off and an alarm relay is activated.

There are alarms for:

• Power failure
• Thermo error
• Release unit not closed
• Error on drive unit
• Max. running time

The system can perform filling of feed and feed release.

7.1.1 Filling of feed

A filling sequence consists of

• Emptying
• Filling
• Sensor delay
• Afterflow

When starting up, the drive unit starts alone in order to ensure that feed remains, if any, from the last filling are
led past the reception unit, so that the feed pipe is not filled twice when the reception unit starts. The period of
21
time when only the drive unit is operating is called “emptying time”.

When the emptying time has elapsed, the reception unit starts and the feed dispensers are filled. As filling is
normally done over 4-5 feed dispensers, the last feed dispensers will not be completely filled when the stop
sensor registers enough feed. Therefore, the sensor can be delayed for a certain period of time to detain stop-
page of reception unit - this is called sensor delay.

When the reception unit has stopped and there is a sufficient amount of feed left in the feed pipe to fill the
remaining feed dispensers, the drive unit will continue for a period of time to fill the last dispensers (afterflow).
When the last feed dispenser is filled the feed pipe is almost empty. This will minimize the strain on the system
during the next start-up.
