2. Dogs infected with scabies

Statement of the Proble Statement of the Problem: This study aims to develop lamud ointment as treatment for scabies, and then evaluate its acceptability and effectiveness. Specifically, it aims to: 1. How do the different concentrations of lamud ointment affect the isolated mites as compared to the commercial ointment? 2. How much time does the mites die after introducing of the different concentrations of lamud ointment as compared to the commercial ointment? Null Hypothesis 1. There is no significant difference of concentrations of lamud ointment effect the isolated mites as compared to the commercial ointment.

2. There is no significant difference on the number of time do the mites die after the applications of the different concentrations of lamud ointment as compared to the commercial ointment.

Importance of the Study The conduct of this study is to introduce the use of lamud as an alternative medicine for scabies as the advantages to benefits of it. For the community people, it will serve as their guide in using lamud as antiseptic ointment as well as to gain benefits from its use including cost saving when compound with conventional treatments. To the Department of Health, that the study will provide an evidence-based result of the effectiveness of lamud to scabies, that they might also want to help improve the study of further more look into deeper aspects of the results. To the MPSPC, results of the study may serve as reference material for further studies related to lamud and scabies. To the nursing profession, dissemination of this information helps in the promotion of the use of alternative medicine in treating scabies. To the nursing students, it would be an additional knowledge and alternative medicine information. This study is also essential in health teachings to the clients especially in the community setting. To the future researchers, this will serve as a baseline data on how to make a research proposal as a guide for such related work.

Chapter 2 Design and Methodology

Research Design The researchers will utilize the experimental research method. There were four (4) treatments used and presented as follows. To- (control) Commercial ointment will be introduced T1- 4 grams of concentrated Lamud ointment will be introduced T2- 8 grams of concentrated Lamud ointment will be introduced T3- 12 grams of concentrated Lamud ointment will be introduced

In the conduction of experiment we will be considering the following; -The number of mites in each petri dish.

Locale and Population of the Study The researchers will be conducting the experiment at the laboratory of Mountain Province State Polytechnic College. Mites (Sarcoptes scabiei) will be used in the study which were obtained from the scabied dogs. The researchers will be obtaining specimens through scraping and placing them in four (4) petri dishes.

Experimental Procedures: PRE-EXPERIMENTAL: The researchers are going to look for a dog that is infected with Scabies. the mites are going to be scraped from the infected part of the dog and place them in

different petri dishes. Specimens will be observed at the laboratory for confirmation and for the next procedure. Then, the researchers will be preparing the lamud ointment by following the procedure which is stated in the research entitled Quantitative and Qualitative Analysis of Lamud by Diaz A., 2008. EXPERIMENTAL: The researchers are going to prepare the materials needed. Then, the mites are going to be observed through the microscope. The treatments will be introduced at the same time. The study will be conducted for at least only a day. For the To, the researchers will be introducing commercial ointment to the mites in petri dish #1. For the T1, the researchers will be introducing four (4) grams of concentrated lamud to the mites in petri dish #2 at the same time with To. For the T2 dogs, the researchers will be introducing eight (8) grams of concentrated lamud ointment to the mites in petri dish #3 at the same time with To. For the T3 dogs, the researchers will be introducing twelve (12) grams of concentrated lamud ointment to the mites in petri dish #4 at the same time with To. DATA TO BE GATHERED 1. Number of mites that will die within the designated time for each treatment. 2. Total number of time do all the mites die in each treatment.
