Mapping Our Week & Beyond

Reading- This week we are taking the first Benchmark Test of the Monday-Friday, Sept. 30-Oct. 4: Pennies
year. We will spend a little time every day reviewing how to read text and answer questions. We will take a portion of the test every day, Monday through Friday. We are also reviewing good test taking strategies and skills. Please continue to read nightly. Also, encourage your child to read books that are appropriate for your childs reading level.
Be sure and return your childs signed reading log DAILY! We are asking all 3rd graders to read every night.

Writing:

Writing Workshop- Friendly Letters

We are finishing our Friendly Letters this week. We will be editing and publishing our final drafts. We will be using the Editors Checklist to edit. In addition, we are going to learn how to address an envelope and complete a writing prompt. Math: Addition with Regrouping We will learn to add three and four digit numbers with regrouping. We will also learn how to add money amounts. Near the end of the week we will work on solving and creating addition patterns. There will be a quiz on Wednesday.

WISH LIST:
Our PBIS store could use the following items (new or gently used): Large, medium, small stuffed animals Toys and games School supplies Trinkets and doodads Books Any items you send in will be sent to be used in the PBIS store. Individually Wrapped Candies for the treat jar~!

Social Studies: Regions of South Carolina

We will begin our first full unit of Social Studies, the Regions of South Carolina. Your child will learn the names of all six of the regions and will begin learning the characteristics of the first three regions: Blue Ridge, Piedmont, and Sandhills. We will be making flipbooks to show what we have learned about each region.
