School Website
The log in area of the school website is coming on and more information
and examples of the childrens learning are going up regularly. Please take the
time to log in with your child and read some of the class blogs. Curriculum newsletters have also now
been uploaded to the school website. You can view these under the curriculum tab on the homepage.

Meet The Teacher
I would like to clarify that the Meet The Teacher presentations next week are an opportunity for you to
meet your childs new teacher and to hear about systems and expectations in that class. Individual
appointments are NOT available, however if you have concerns about your child please do contact the
teacher in the usual way. A formal parents evening will be held in November with individual appointments
which will focus on your childs academic progress. This will also be a chance for you to view your childs
work.

Art Days At St Oswalds
Next week all children in school (except the Robins) will be taking part in an art project led by local
artist Julie Mitchell. This will be to paint a new mural for the hall based on the theme of the Lords
Prayer. It should be a really exciting project. Classes will be involved on the following days:

Tuesday 23 September Hummingbirds
Wednesday 24 September Hummingbirds, Goldfinches and Sparrows
Thursday 25 September Hummingbirds, Sparrows and Wrens

On these days it is essential that your child comes to school in old, potentially disposable clothes as they
will more than likely get acrylic paint on them that will not wash out. All children will take their shoes
and socks off before they do any art work. We will be tweeting pictures of the work in progress and
adding them to the Whole School Community in the log in area of the school website.

Combat Soldier
This Saturday sees a number of members of
the school community taking part in the
Combat Soldier event raising funds for the
Emily Ffion trust. If you would like to
support the team you can donate through
their JustGiving page
at www.justgiving.com/teamyummymummies/

Help Mrs Spence!
If parents have any unwanted buttons, ribbon or cotton thread please could
they send it into school for Mrs Spence to use. Also, if any parent would be
willing to help in the Wrens on a Wednesday afternoon Mrs Spence would be
really grateful. Please pop in and see her on a Wednesday or Thursday.

Harvest
Just a reminder from Stephen that the St Oswalds church harvest celebration service takes place on
Sunday 28 September. Look for the slip in your childs book bag.

Lost Property
After 3 weeks of school we already have a significant amount of lost property. Please could I ask you to
ensure that all your childs clothing is named. This makes it so easy to return it to you. All the jumpers
in the lost property box are unnamed and identical. If you have lost items of clothing please have a look
through the box to reclaim anything that belongs to you there are also a number of good quality coats
in there. Later this term we will wash all unnamed school uniform and sell it at a Cake and Coffee event
to raise funds for the PTA.

Easy Fundraising
Thanks to our supporters shopping online, we've now raised 189.07
with easyfundraising. In the busy online shopping period up to
Christmas (less than 100 days to go ), we would like to get this
to at least 300.
You can help us to meet this target by registering for free with easyfundraising, and raising donations
when you shop online - at no additional cost to you!

For example:
Amazon give a donation of 1.5%. So, if you buy a book for 10, this would raise 15p.
John Lewis give a donation of 2.25%. So, a 30 order would raise 67.5p.

These may not seem very large donations, but if each family in the school could raise 1, then we would
meet our target. Again, at no additional cost to you.
There are over 2,700 retailers registered on easyfundraising, giving us a great opportunity to fundraise
you may even save yourself money, as the easyfundraising site details the latest deals and offers from
those retailers!
Please give it a go, at http://www.easyfundraising.org.uk/causes/stoswaldspta.
Remember the target is 300 by Christmas.

Open Afternoon
We are holding an Open Afternoon for the local community and prospective parents for September 2015
on September 30. This will be an informal drop in event with visitors receiving a guided tour of the
school from one of our Y6 children. There is a link to details about this on the front page of the
school website. If you are involved in any local organisations and would like to share information
about this with them pop into the office and I will print some details out for you.

School Uniform Update
On the last newsletter I asked for parental volunteers to create a working party in order to
investigate alternative uniform provision and also to put some of the concerns directly to
Forresters. At present I have had one parent volunteer. Given that 75% of parents who
returned questionnaires were happy with the current provision, unless there are more parents
who are prepared to take part in this, we will continue to use Forresters without any further
research. Please contact me if you would like to take part in this by Friday 26 September.
Times for meetings can be arranged once I have a list of names.

And to finish off some pictures of the immensely popular Loom Bands Club and some superb
Critical Skills work this week.
