cover, sand tray and barrier are physically checked for type, size, finishing as per drawings. Supports to be checked and made sure that they are provided as per drawings and to suit field conditions. Expansion joint, splice plates and fittings shall be installed as per design. Holds down clamps shall be fitted firmly, Bonding jumpers are installed, tray barriers provided as required. Identification tags or labels shall be installed correctly. Sharp bends shall be avoided to prevent cable from being damaged during installation. The cable tray shall be installed as a complete continuous system by providing proper joints and jumpers before any cable is pulled or installed. The clamps / nuts are properly tightened and wherever required to cut the cable tray/ ladder, it shall be done using a grinding machine with cutting wheel. The ends of the cable tray/ladder are cleaned for the smooth finish and removing burrs using grinding machine with grinding wheel and protect with rubber beading.

4.2.2 Installation of LV Cable Trench shall be prepared for underground cables in accordance with the respective cable route diagram. A soft sand bedding of thickness 100 mm shall be filled. The size cable trench normally shall be of 850mm (depth) X 500 mm (width) or 850 mm (depth) X 300mm (width), and 1050 mm (depth) X 750 mm (width). Stone, sharp objects or other material inside the trench shall be cleared off completely prior to commencement of the cable laying. When laying cable the cable drum shall be placed on the cable jack, the drum shall be rolled manually and the length of the cable required shall be cut accordingly. The length of the cable to be cut shall be based on the respective cable schedule and the actual measurement in the field. After cutting the cable to required length, laying to trench shall be performed manually, and care shall be taken to avoid excessive pulling force and the bending radius shall be as per the recommendation of manufacturer. Manual supplied by vendor shall be attached along with this document and copies shall be given to electrician at site for implementation. Prior to backfill the trench the cable shall be numbered and identified in accordance with the project specification, stainless steel

labels shall be attached at every 5 meters for underground cables and plastic labels shall be attached with cable at every 25 meters for above ground cables. All labels shall be tied by PVC coated stainless steel wire. After all the cables are laid in trench, sand padding thickness of 100 mm shall be backfilled around cables, and concrete slab shall be covered above padding. A warning tape shall be centrally installed along the trench, 150 mm above concrete slab followed by a cable route marker as required. The cable route marker shall be in accordance with Electrical Installation Standards. For direct buried cable trench, backfilling soil shall be approved by COMPANY. The above ground cable shall be installed in cable tray in accordance with the cable layout drawing. The cable shall be manually placed inside cable tray in accordance with the cable schedule. Care shall be taken during fixing the cable in the tray ensures no insulation shall be damaged. The cable shall be fixed to the tray using PVC Nylon tape inside of the room. The cable shall be tied to cable tray at the interval of 500 mm and at the point where there is a change in direction. The above ground cable shall be numbered and identified accordingly. The cable entry and exit to conduit, panels, equipments room and control room shall be sealed. Conduit shall be sealed using foam sealing compound. After installation, the cable continuity shall be tested using a digital multi meter to ensure its continuity followed by insulation testing using Megger. After the completion of the installation, the inspection in accordance with the respective inspection plan shall be carried out and recorded. PVC conduit with concrete coverage shall be used for cable installation in road crossing as per standard except for specified otherwise. Where ever cable emerges from underground to connect to the equipment they shall be sleeved with approved tube to at least 150 mm above finished grade level. Tube end shall be sealed with PVC Compound after cable installation.
