Job description
Our Client is looking for Hook up engineers to join either the Steel structures, E&I or
Piping Team in order to provide Hook-up expertise during bid phase, project preparatory
phases (in home office and in yard) and offshore execution phase during all engineering
activities related to Hook-up.
Minimum 6 years of experience is required in the field and MUST have experience in
developing, coordinating and supervising multidisciplinary hook-up engineering activities.
Tasks
Propose engineering solutions aiming at identifying optimized configurations for
transportation and installation with available marine spread, minimizing offshore Hookups and optimizing construction sequences and methodology at Site.
Provide Hook-up inputs to the engineering reviews (Constructability, 3D model, HAZID,
etc.).
Participate in the execution of the Hook-up engineering, including identification of
multidisciplinary Hook-up activities, preparation of Hook-up procedures and assembling
of necessary project documentation in disciplines Work Packages.
Liaise with Hook-up Planning and Control Analyst for setting up Hook-up Job Cards
based on scope of work and in accordance with the defined plans for construction,
installation and commissioning.
Elaborate Hook-up project deliverables list and ensure that documents and procedures
are developed and issued accordingly.
Define the preparation of Subcontracts scopes and Technical Bid Evaluations related to
Hook-up activities.
Ensure the correct interfaces with other project functions during Hook-up engineering
activities.
Collect red mark-up engineering documents at site for final As-Built drawings
preparation.
Support Hook-up Manager ensuring the necessary follow-up of Hook-up engineering
activities either from Home Office, Yard or Site, including inputs for Job Cards updating
as necessary.
Supervise the analysis of Hook-up requirements relevant to Welding, Painting, Coating
and Quality Control activities and the implementation of any special requirement, ahead
the offshore campaign.
Professional Technical Skills:
Capability to plan Discipline engineering activities and documentation deliverables in
order to meet Project schedule milestones considering design workflows and
engineering interfaces with all other Project Disciplines and functions Capability to
manage dynamic changes due to endogenous and exogenous factors.
Capability to analyze engineering documents (e.g. Instruction to Tender, Saipem and
subcontractor documents, etc.) identifying improvement areas in terms of cost/time
optimization.
Capability to handle subcontracted engineering work packages defining the scope of
work, the milestones and documentation deliverables. Capability to control the quality,
the costs and the timing of the subcontracted activities ensuring the compliance with
project scheduling and goals and with contract requirements.
Familiarity with Fabrication and Installation techniques in order to:

- ensure effective inter-function relationships.


- interpret project requirements.
- correctly define the quality and timing of engineering deliverables.
- correctly define the required corrective actions and updating of engineering
deliverables to support fabrication at site.
Knowledge and experience of yard field engineering execution and interfaces with
construction team, providing engineering support for carry-over works to be transferred
at site and solving engineering problems arise during construction at site.
Capability to develop, coordinate and supervise hook-up engineering, including
identification of
multidisciplinary hook-up activities, preparation of hook-up procedures, definition of
hook-up scope of works including technical bid evaluations, assembling of necessary
hook-up documentation in Work Packages for each involved discipline
Specific knowledge and Site experience of multidisciplinary hook-up works, and their
coordination with construction activities, offshore installation and marine spread
operations, commissioning sequences.
Knowledge of support operation fleet in order to establish the correct selection of vessel
for the project.
Professional Skill
Capability to plan and optimize the way resources (people, materials and infrastructure
required to carry out project activities) are utilized in the project time schedule as well as
their continuous monitoring and control.
Capability to perform technical evaluation of vendor/suppliers offers with reference to
Discipline items, bulk material and subcontracted work packages and services,
according to Corporate standards and procedures.
Capability to prepare offshore manpower histogram and Hook-Up Job Cards based on
hook-up scope of work and in accordance with the defined plans for construction,
installation and commissioning.
Capability to improve efficiency and effectiveness of the overall project by taking into
account construction constrains and opportunities in the earlier phases of the project.
Specific knowledge of offshore platform and modules design especially in terms of
process, structural, layout, topside equipment, handling, mechanical, materials and
piping. Capability to propose engineering solutions aiming at identifying optimized
configurations to be transported and installed with available marine vessels / marine
spread, minimizing offshore hook-ups and optimizing construction sequences and
methodology.
