-INTROWhats up guys, my name is Jake and welcome to Abandoned

has been asking for since episode 1, Nickelodeon Studios In Orlando
Florida. This has been the most requested thing for a while but Ill

if you ever need to contact us for anything other then Twitter or
Facebook, we have a new section on our website where you can
contact us directly 100% guaranteed. So, lets get into it shall we.
So, Nickelodeon Studios is located actually to the surprise of many
people, in the Universal Studios Orlando Park. Before we talk about
the studios its self, we need to go back a bit. Universal Studios was
basically a counter attack to Disneys MGM studios or now Disneys
Hollywood Studios. When Disneys MGM first opened it was to be a
fully fictional movie studio that parted with a theme park. Not only was
it cheaper to film there but they had new massive soundstages and
sets to work with. Shows like home improvement, the movie Ernest
Saves Christmas was filmed there and even the Golden Girls house
was on the backlot tour. The Disney park was weirdly similar to what
Universal announced that same year. So much so that Universal
sued Disney claiming that the company and Michael Eisner (CEO)
coping ideas from Universals planned park. So Universal ended up
counteracting them with their own movie production park much like
their pre existing one in California. See now, when the park opened,
much like Disneys MGM, it was supposed to be a fully functional film
production studio sided with a theme park.
So, in 1988 Nickelodeon joined Universal, then later on in 1989 it
was announced that they would be building their first ever studio in
the park. The planned building was going to house some of the live
new action shows Nickelodeon had planned.
The studio began to film the show Super Sloppy Double Dare a whole
year before the opening of the park which was 1989.

Then on June 7th 1990 Nickelodeon Studios opened with Universal

Studios Orlando Florida. The studio consisted of 2 sound stages
stage 18 and stage 19 with the main building connecting the two,
which housed the production offices, dressing rooms, makeup rooms,
and many other tech rooms. Directly behind both soundstages was
soundstage 21 which was sometimes rented out for the taping of
shows that required more space. Basically all of Nick Gas shows
were taped there like, Legends of the Hidden Temple, Nickelodeon
show Kenan and Kel, Figure it out, youre on, global guts and a
whole lot more. Like a lot more.
I feel the need to mention this on April 30 th, 1992 an official time
capsule was buried out in front of the Nickelodeon building. It was set
to open on April 30th, 2042. Little did they know the studio would close
exactly 13 years later so where is the capsule now? Well it was
actually taken out of the ground and placed somewhere else. Where
else would it be then a shitty I mean Nickelodeon Suites Resort
Orlando. Yeah its out in the front of the building where the main doors
are I have problems with that hotel.ANYWAY
So what happened to Nick. Studios? So, remember how I
mentioned before that Universal Studios was going to be much like
Disney MGM where it would be half theme park half production
studio? Well when the parks first opened, they almost immediately
started have problems. Nothing technical or structural, it was a
problem with sound. A big problem. Now when Universal Studios
opened it opened with no background area music at all. There are
stories of Universal executives walking around the park with no music
and them immediately saying we need this now, like this is almost
creepy. Now, why do you think they did this? Its because they had
many live productions going and any noise would ruin the production.
This was a massive issue for Disney MGM because their whole
gigantic outdoor set and no one wanted to use it because you got

catastrophe canyon going off every 12 minutes. For Universal, it was

a little less of that problem because they didnt have as many stupidly
loud things happening.

I just want to add in 1995 they cancelled like me favorite show ever,
Legend of the hidden temple. Silver snakes were the best. Anyway In
1998 and 1999, major changes came to Universal Studios and I
mean big ones. First, the parking lot was turned into a lake that now
spans through basically everything on property including most of the
hotels, and a new parking garage was constructed to save as much
space as possible. A new archway and the glob were constructed in
the entrance bringing a modern feel to the park as well as massive
expansions such as Citywalk, Universals downtown Disney, new
onsite hotels and a new theme park named Islands of Adventure.
These changes for Universal meant for changed to Nick Studios. So
somewhere between 1997 and 1998, two new studios were built in
Hollywood named Nickelodeon on Sunset. With the new studio in the
much more convenient location, this meant less and less filming in
the Florida studio. Also along with the massive increase of things to
do in Universal Orlando, this meant less people visiting the studio.
Then in 1999, there was no new shows being filmed in the studios
itself except for different variants of already existing shows.
Then actually in the year 2000, things kinda picked up They
hosted a big millennium celebration and started filming new shows.
However, things then took a nose dive. All the new shows that did
start to be filmed there never made it past the first season. Ill miss
you Noah knows best <3

In 2001 things started to get bad Due to the lack of money the
studios had, they sold off around 2,000 props from the building.
Things got so bad that in 2004, nothing was being filmed there.
However in Summer of 2004, they did find a show to film called
Nickelodeon Splat. Hurray right? Yeah no, it was canceled August
17th 2004 only a few months after the premier episode. And that was
the very last thing ever made in that building. At this point they were
running out of money to operate the studio. This was a problem but
another one was, well, remember how I was mentioning Disneys
MGM studios? Well by this point Disney gave up the idea of
pretending it was still a fully operational production studio and just
focused on the theme park side. And Universal kinda did the same
thing. So, on April 30th 2005, Nickelodeon Studios Officially closed
forever.
Now came the removal of all evidence that the Studios existed this
means between 2005 and 2006, the outdoor props and sings were
removed. So, what happened to the building? Well, in September of
2006 Universal Announced that stage 18 (the one on the right) or the
one thats closest to that stupid ugly roller Coaster rip something?
Anyway that stage will host Universals Blue Man Group.
Construction for it went from 2006 to June 2007. Finally on June 7 th
2007, exactly 17 years after the grand opening of Nick Studios, the
new Sharp Aquos Theatre opened for Citywalk. As for the main
building, it was left abandoned with all its original decor left inside. I
thought I should also mention this too but 2008 and 2009,
Nickelodeon did film a new show called My Familys Got Guts on
sound stage 19. As of 2015, the building remains still abandoned.
Nickelodeon Studios ran for 14 years and filmed over 2,000
episodes and entertained millions of guests and people everywhere.
This building has left its Legacy. If youre ever in Universal, make
sure you take the secret entrance in passing by this building.
