Earthquake Drill Report - Bagong Silang

This document summarizes an earthquake drill conducted at Bagong Silang Elementary School 4th Ave. in Caloocan City. During the unannounced drill, 369 female and 373 male students from kindergarten to 6th grade, along with teachers, participated when the alarm sounded at 10:00 AM. Students and teachers evacuated from their classrooms in an orderly manner. The drill aimed to practice emergency preparedness and ensure students knew what to do during a real earthquake. An evaluation found some students were not taking the drill seriously enough and improvements were still needed for steep stairwells. The school also held safety seminars for teachers on first aid, fire safety, and casualty evacuation procedures led by emergency responders.

Last November 26, 2015 Bagong Silang Elementary School 4th Ave.
conducted an earthquake drill. We had un-announced drill, teachers and pupils
were surprised because the bell rang during class hours at exactly 10:00 a.m. in
the morning. The alarm served as the signal for the pupils and teachers to be
alert. After that the pupils and teachers went out on their respective classrooms,
walked-pass downstairs and covered their heads with rag.
When were outside the school, I commended the pupils and teachers first
in participating. After that, some questions were asked like; what are the
purposes of this drill? What did you do when the bell rang? Do you think youre
ready for the big one? Other tips were suggested like; bags can be used as an
alternative way to cover our heads because, it can also protect our back from
falling debris.
An alternate session of the drill was conducted for morning and afternoon
classes so that every teachers and pupils would practice on what theyre going to
do when the big one comes. For morning session pupils who participated were
approximately 369 females and 373 males from kinder to graders and other
participants was from the afternoon session for a total of 1, 485 pupils.
I also checked their identification cards with flashlight and whistle on it, in
case a disaster may occur where will they assemble and do they have a what you
called ICE Contacts`` (In-case of emergency contacts in their families. At the
end of the session more reminders were raised like dont forget to bring rags and
flashlight with whistle. We also thanked our school project partner Red Cross

Caloocan Chapter for the donated fire extinguishers and centralized bells that
were using when we are conducting a drill.

In conducting a drill there were still problems like; steep downstairs in gate
3 building 1 on Josefina St. those pupils who do not have rags, lights and whistle
and pupils who are smiling and not taking seriously our drill.
In connection to this, our school also conducted a fire and earthquake
seminar for teachers headed by our guest speaker SGT. INSPT RAINIEL
FLORENTINO PARAMEDIC OIC, Sir BRYAN ERIC COTINGCO and Sir PHILIP SANCHEZ
at Malabon Fire Station last November 16, 2015. He tackled all the procedures on
how to rescue a casualty and what first aid treatment you will do like; proper way
of bandaging a victim and lastly how to use a fire extinguisher when a fire occurs.
Most important is before a disaster come know your danger what to
prepare and where to go after a disaster come.
