Questions:
1. What material / materials did you use to make the model?
Our group used light matches to form the main structure of the allotrope, and
connected them with a tape and coated it with aluminum foil to give it a nice
sparkly effect.
2. What factors did you consider in choosing the materials?
a.
b.
c.
d.

Availability matches is necessary in every household.

Budget a matchbox costs about 30 pesos only.
Creativity use of aluminum foil for a sparkly effect.
Resourcefulness making use of available materials at home instead of
buying.

The most probable and common material that one would use to create a
model for this allotrope, is a wire or barbeque sticks. But then we wanted to use
something uncommon but still available and cheap. And so we researched and
saw a video of a guy making a model of fullerene using light matches. It was
clever, because it is just like the barbeque sticks, but the right size, and there
wouldnt be any need to cut anything.
To add design, we gave the model a silver sparkly touch by coating the
intersections of the sticks with aluminum foil. Again, it is available at home, and
not that expensive.
And for the final part, we made a stand or frame for the model, to make it very
presentable and convenient to carry (just made from barbeque sticks).
