1. Identify local, recyclable materials found in the community.
2. Tell the importance of recycling in the community and to people.
A. Content Standards:
 The learners demonstrate understanding of materials undergo changes due to oxygen and
heat.
B. Performance Standards:
 The learner uses local, recyclable solid and or/liquid materials in making useful products.
C. Learning Competencies:
 Design a product out of local, recyclable solid and or/liquid materials in making useful
products. (S5MT-Ih-i-4)

Review about 5R’s (Stand when the situation shows 5R’s technique)
1. Use the empty jars of mayonnaise as candy jars or food storage jars.
2. Put all food residues together with the other trash in one container.
3. Bury aluminum cans and broken glass underground.
4. Segregate glass wastes from plastic, papers and rubber.
5. Burn old tires and broken plastic toys at the backyard.

The learners will play Minute to Win It (Jumbled Letters)
 Divide the class into four. Provide each group with set of jumbled letters of recyclable
materials. Give a minute to arrange the jumbled letters. The group who can form the
letters will be declared the winner.

Making generalizations and abstraction about the lesson
1. What are the local recyclable materials found in your community?
There are many recyclable materials found in our community, examples are used paper,
plastic bottles, plastic cups, drinking straws, shampoo and lotion containers, plastics bags,
cellophanes, metals, glasses, tin cans and many others.
2. How important is recycling to our environment and to people?
It is important to recycle waste materials to:
a. Lessen the production of waste
b. Help clean the environment
c. Prevents sickness
d. Earn money

Group 2- Sing a song in the tune of “Let It Go”
Group 3- Dramatize the situation
Group 4- Recite the poem about recycling

1. Collect wrappers of biscuits, corn chips, candies, etc.
2. Clean them and write on your notebooks 50 English words that you can read.
3. Cut into tiny strips then make a pillow out of these.
