Proper Waste Management at Home


1. Have bins for the different kinds of wastes at home.
2. Throw biodegradable wastes like fruit and vegetable peelings, dried
leaves and grasses into the backyard compost pit to convert into
fertilizer. Don’t burn garbage at home.
3. Sell plastic bottles, tin cans and metal scraps in the junk shop to lessen
wastes at home.
4. Convert wastes at home into school projects or outputs.

Proper Waste Management in School


1. Separate, reduce, reuse and recycle school wastes.
2. Have an Income Generating Project in school like selling recycled
stuffs.
3. Turn into compost all biodegradable scraps in school.
4. Follow instructions on how to manage wastes in the Material
Recovery Facility or MRF.

Proper Waste Management in the Community


1. Collect, segregate and store the different types of wastes properly.
2. Secure the garbage bag tightly to prevent animals from scattering
them.
3. Support clean-up activities of waterways, canals, creeks and public
places in the community.
4. Observe the schedule of garbage retrieval by garbage collectors or
garbage trucks.

Use of game “WHAT’S THE MISSING VOWEL?”


The following is the definition of each R:

R__duce - it simply means reducing or lessening the amount of possible


waste materials. Example: Saving packaging, colored paper and other
items for arts, and crafts projects.
Re__se - it means to use again for the same purpose the materials as
much as possible. Example: Using old hand-me-down clothes.

Recycl__ - it means processing waste materials to make another product.


Example: Making old papers into paper charcoal.

Rep__ir - is fixing or restoring broken items so that these will be used


again. Example: Repainting tables and chairs.

Rec__ver - it means taking energy or materials from wastes to be


converted into new resources. Example: Making animal manure into
fertilizer for plants.
