Dear Parents,
I would like to provide you with information regarding your childs swimming lessons. The school swimming
curriculum is following the ASA Learn to Swim Pathway. This pathway has seven stages and provides
children with a range of aquatic skills which will allow them to choose a variety of options moving forward,
which include: competitive swimming, diving, synchronised swimming, water polo and rookie lifeguard.
Provided, is an overview of the assessment criteria required for each stage as well as a recommended age of
attainment.
Childrens assessment of swimming will be incorporated into their end of year reports as a weighted element
of Physical Education. In addition to this certificates and badges will be available to those children who
pass stages and complete certain distances. The purchase of these certificates and badges will be optional
for a fee of 2.
Children will require their swimming kits on the following days: Wednesday: Orangutan/Loris/Gorilla
Thursday: Elephant/Kakapo/Rhino
Friday: Chinchilla/Lemur
Swimming kits consist of a plain costume for girls, swimming trunks for boys (no board shorts), a hat (which
can be purchased for 1 at school), and a towel. Please note that goggles may only be worn with a signed
consent form which will be available at the office.
The cost of swimming for each pupil is 36.00 for the year (12.00 per term). This can be paid on Parentpay
or by sending cash or cheque to school, cheques payable to LCC. We depend on your swimming payments
to enable us to run our swimming programme.
