SO many of the fraction art projects look AMAZING! Please stop by our hall at some point soon to
see them on display! This week, we are focusing on multiplying whole numbers, fractions, and
mixed numbers. Ask your student about their strategies.
Tokaido Inn is drawing to an end and we are working on our final projects! Projects are now
due October 17th - presentations will be the following Thursday and Friday, the 20th and
21st . If the connection to the book is not obvious, students will need to have a write-up
explainin how their projects relates to the book and to the Feudal Japanese period.
Students are working on their culminating timeline project for Feudal Japan. Each group has one of
the four main section of the Feudal Japan period: Kamakura, Muromachi, Azuchi, or Edo. Ask your
student what they know about their time-period and what they have done with their timelines!

We are studying the animal kingdom through the end of the week and students are getting
lots of time to work on their Kingdom Day projects, which are due next Wednesday. Ask
your student about their groups progress.

Your 5th grader has a weekly homework sheet where they are to write their daily assignments-make sure that
they are showing it to you nightly! Even if your student feels that they completed the full assignment
during class time, part of their homework is to go over the classwork and assignments with you- having
your student teach you what they have learned, concretes their understanding!

PAPER TOWELS AND HIGHLIGHTERS

A HUGE thank you to Mrs. Dickins for providing both classrooms with loads of paper towels and
highlighters! We should be good to go for a while- Thanks so much!
TENNIS BALLS FOR CHAIRS
Anyone have old tennis balls or new ones they would like to donate for the bottoms of our chairs (we
need about 200 all told)? Once we get the tennis balls, anyone interested in the at-home project of
cutting them open for us? Let us know!
LUNCH TIME VOLUNTEERS!
We have had some awesome parent volunteers- thank you! We are hoping that with more participation,
we will be able to let student groups go outside and have more social lunch, while those choosing to be
quiet can have a separate space. Let us know if youre interested!
Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns, we hope that you are having a fabulous week!
