Firstlythe first step of examining patients is monshinn, which is

to use words to ask conditions of illness. Though according to the

general procedures the monshin begins by asking whats
happened, if doctors pay attention to this, its said that it could
make patients speaking atmosphere easier.

As explained before, things like what kind of words should be used,

there should be one of such things to be applied, which is a
sentence before the start of monshin, for example try to ask have
you waited for a long time?. If the patients begin the conversation
by answering ye, actually yes. I came here this morning at 7am,
finally got here, the introduction part is said to be successful.

Oh I see, you had such a bad condition. I wanted to make the

waiting time shorter though. Sorry about that. Alright such
conversations become like this. Monshin is to ask questions based
on what kind of the conditions of illness, when does such condition
appear, what kind of condition is it now. I have a stomache
When you start to feel that? These two or three weeks What
kind of condition is that? Do you feel piercing painful or you might
feel heavy pain?

Um Please say it as what you feel um, I feel persistent
pain When do you feel the pain? Do you feel the pain all the time?
Are there any causes due to your meals? When I feel hungry, I feel
the persistent pain How long have you been felt the same
conditions?

Because doctors are usually get used to these things, they will ask
questions just like showering without reservation. However, for
patients, it normal that they could not express the words as what
they thought. Once they derail from here and there, they tend to
answer with hesitations quietly.

For doctors, there will be someone get angry (there isnt someone
who wont) Cannot understand the sentences from a complete
layman. Please answer to the questions thoroughly as my expected
questions

However thats unreasonable. There is no need to be dispirited.

Firmly insist with (can even be noncommittally) Because I am a
layman, I could not say such things in this way will also be okay.

Well in 1940s, I became a third year university student, I decided

to learn Chinese language at university officially. At that time, its
different from nowadays, there were extremely small amount of
people learning Chinese or Japanese, which more than half of those
learners were middle age females.

At that time, I didnt have money, at noon at Chinese cuisine

restaurant, I always order fixed-price lunch within 30 cents to 35
cents, at most one or two times in a month, I would think come by
with more expensive food is all right. With that conditions, because
that person seems interesting, I agreed to accept the invitations

with pleasure. And then, when we were having a fest I listened to

that person, he had been to Japan and Taiwan for five years,
however there were always people who can speak English with him,
finally he didnt remember Japanese.

He could only speak broken sentences. At that time according to

what he said, he had a house in the mountains, and he wanted to
hire a Japanese people as family teacher to learn Japanese, if he is
the only one study, he might escape from the lessons, maybe if
would be better if two or three persons encourage each other and
learn, so that he encouraged me to study Japanese together with
him.

Though I still hold the usual the anti-Japanese sentiment, rather

than that, I felt a shame, first of all I have a stronger desire which is
to go to the mountain live a life like ordinary people. At that summer
in 1941, we went to North Carolina in United States. When we
arrived at the house, the family teacher had already came, was
snapping the fruit at orchard.

remembered at the begging was that sakurannbo I think for most
people would certainly memorize the word sakura, it start with
sakurannbo was really rare, isnt it?

The textbook we were using was textbook for year one student in
Japan. Though for year student, the content would be extremely
interesting, for us whose age are quite different from primary

students, and hold different hobbies were not really interesting.

However, even there were other textbooks, the reading books
written for American people, I didnt know any according to what I
know.

On the first page, it was written blossomed, blossomed, cherry

blossoms are blossomed as usual. There were also other reading
books for moral education, however by comparing, the saita saita
was more interesting, the moral value were quite different from
what I considered. Anyway, compare to Chinese, the Japanese is far

The family teacher is called Inomata Tadashi, he was born in

America, however, he went back to Japan with his family when he
was a little, and return to America again when he was seventeen or
eighteen. From nationality he is American, however, he could not
really speak English, on the contrary, his studies of Japanese is
concerned better. However, within the two months time at mountain
cottage, the owner of the cottage and the other students had given
up and ended up with dropping out, I was the only one who survived
to try hard at the end.
