Task 3: literacy strategies

Phonics:It start at 9.10 9.20. The teacher start to


keep the students set on a circle. Then,
she give each student a group cards of
numbers from 1 to 10. Next, she revue the
numbers with the students and sing the
numbers song. After that, she use the
African Dram. Miss Jones tell the students
to listen how many time she will hit the
dram and they have to count and show
her the cards number. Then she start to hit
the dram 3 time and then the students
should count how many time she hit the
dram and they should found number three
on the card that they hold it and show it to
the teacher. She did this activity 4 times
and she asked one student to hit the dram
and the students should count and choose
the writ card.

Reading story:It start at 12.30 12.40. The teacher start


to chick if all the students ready to listen
to the story. So she ask them to show her
the 4 things (Good sitting ear listening
lips close eyes looking). After that, she
start to read the selfish crocodile story
with using puppet. Also, she asked them
what do you thing will happen next. Show
me how the mouse pulling teeth crocodile.
Then, when she finish reading the story
she ask them if they like the story. Then,
she ask them to be busy in the class.

Reflection:
I observed my mentor and I write two literacy
strategies (phonics and reading). As I mention
on the task I write what the teacher did in the
carpet session and it take 10 to 15 minutes. I
like the phonics part that she used with the
students. I think it was useful and easy way to
help the student to learn in different ways. On
my opinion this way will help teachers in UAE
schools because as I observed on the last years
they did not use this methods with the
students and if they will use it. It will help the
students to learn and it will change the class
rotten.
