Teaching Standard:

Uses strategies to deliver instruction that meets the multiple learning needs of students.

Standard Criteria:

Aligns classroom instruction with local standards and district curriculum.

I choose this artifact to show:
_____ Growth in the standard
__X___ Strength and competency in the standard

Description of the artifact and how it meets the standard and criteria:
I have a section of my classroom devoted to the standards that I teach daily. They
change weekly, and daily depending on what skill we are working on. I have them
posted in my classroom so my students are informed on what we are doing in our room.
This meets the criteria because the standards that I have posted are our district
standards that I am required to teach to my students.
Reflection on the artifact:
I knew that one of the important things I needed when I designed my classroom was a
section of my space dedicated to the standards that I would be teaching. I wanted the
students to be informed in what we are doing at all times of our day. I have standards
for math, reading, language arts, grammar, writing, and social studies. I have enjoyed
having them posted in my room because it keeps me accountable when I am teaching.
It also keeps me up to date as well because I need to change them frequently. Lastly, it
gives me a start to each of our lessons because we discuss what standard we will be
working on. We have a very quick discussion on what the standard is, how I will teach it,
and what they will do to show me that they have learned the standard. This talk tells the
students exactly what I will be doing, what they will be doing, and what I am expecting
of them, and I believe that it has helped in my management as well because it explicitly
lays out what we will be completing.
