Location Report

For my A2 Film Studies project I have completed a textual analysis, along with I have
created several planning materials in order to create 20 key frames, which will appeal to
my target audience and portray my narrative clearly. I have created a report of the
locations I will be using where I aim to create my product. The films, which I analyzed
for my textual analysis, inspired me to choose these locations.

Hallway
This is the first location I will be using for my creative artifact. In this first scene the
audience will be introduced to Aisha, the protagonist. The audience will be able to
identify that she is coming home from work through the use of mise-en-scene as she is
wearing smart and professional attire. This location has many advantages; the lighting is
very good so I wont have any issues with the quality of the photographs. However, I am
unable to moderate the amount of light, which may affect the quality of my pictures. Also
the hallway is long allowing me to take different shots yet it is quite narrow which means
that I will have to consider my shot choices due to space. I aim to use a mixture of
medium close up and long shots and several angles. However, things need to be changed
in this location; there are lots of different jackets and coats hung up, which I will remove
to add to the verisimilitude that Aisha and Denian live here.

Living Room
I will be using this location to portray Denians character to the audience. I will be
representing him as scruffy and overall in a negative light through the use of mise-en-
scene of empty bottles and a mess around him. From this the audience can depict that he
is the antagonist. The living room is very spacious, allowing me to use a variety of shots
and angles such as a close up and a high angle to portray to the audience Denians anger
etc. Also there are several lights in the living room, which, can be adjusted ensuring that
my images for my creative artifact will be of a good standard.

Kitchen
This is the last location I will be using in my creative artifact and will be where the main
action takes place. The prop I will use in this scene will be a knife. This means that I have
to make changes to the location to add to the verisimilitude, as Aisha needs to have easy
and quick access to a knife. However, t his may pose health and safety issues which I will
need to be cautious of. There is a lot of space in the kitchen, which is an advantage as it
gives me the space to move around and set up properly to use different angles and shots
to highlight the characters inferiority and superiority as the narrative unfolds.
