Lesson Plan for Grade I

I. Objectives:
At the end of the period the pupils:
a. must have memorized the nursery rhyme.
b. must have exhibited enjoyment in singing the nursery rhyme.

II. Subject Matter


Itsy Bitsy Spider

Materials: Flash cards, cut-out pictures, printed visual aids, speaker
Value focus: Obedience

III. Procedure:
A. Drill
The teachers will flash the cards to the pupils and ask them to read it.
The teacher will then discuss each word to the pupils.

The teacher will show printed pictures to the class, then discuss it
briefly as she shows the pictures.

C. Presentation:
Rote/Phase Method
1. The teacher sings the whole song.
2. The teacher asks questions about the song.
a. What animal was mentioned in the song?
b. What did the spider do in first in the song?
c. Why did the spider got washed out from the spout?
d. Do you think the spider was hurt when he got washed out? Why?
e. If you were the spider, will you climb the water spout again? Why?
3. The teacher sings the first phrase, pupils follow.
"Itsy bitsy spider climbed up the water spout."
4. The teacher sings the second phrase, pupils follow.
"Down came the rain, and washed the spider out."
5. The teacher sings the third phrase, pupils follow. (
"Out came the sun and dried up all the rain."
6. The Teacher sings the fourth phrase, pupils follow.
"And the itsy bitsy spider climbed up the spout again."
7. The teacher sings the whole song, the pupils follow.

IV. Application
The teacher will demonstrate the finger play of Itsy Bitsy Spider and the
pupils will imitate. The pupils will execute the finger play demonstrated by the
teacher as they sing the Itsy Bitsy Spider.
V. Evaluation
Direction: Fill in the blanks with the correct word from the song Itsy-bitsy
spider.

VI. Assignment
