Purpose:
The purpose of this learning experience is to provide children with an opportunity to
learn their alphabets by using spongy letter stamps and stamping it with paint on
construction paper. Another purpose of this activity is to provide the children with an
opportunity to learn the shape format of each letter to gain knowledge in learning how
each letter looks.
Observation Sample:
Yesterday as the children were signing their name in a chart which is morning routine for
them, I was observing the children seeing their name card and printing it onto the chart
paper. As I was observing some of the children, I noticed Child A who had a marker in
his hand with his name card trying to see the shape of each letter of his name. As I went
towards him, I asked if he wanted me to help him write his name and agreed for my
assistance. As I held his hand with the marker to his level, I placed the name card on the
table and helped him write each letter by describing how each letter is written and how
each letter sounded. As we finished writing his name, he felt really happy that he was
able to write his name on the chart. This observation gave me the opportunity to learn
that some of the children are still learning how each shape of the letter, by providing this
activity it would help the children learn how each letter looks.

Learning Experience: Creative Stamping spongy foam letters with paint on to
construction paper with their hands
I am organizing this sensory learning experience at the art center with 4 sheets of
construction paper on each side of the table and with bowls of different colors of paint
on. Im going to organize the table with just the materials so the children have the
opportunity to stand or sit while stamping the spongy letters onto construction paper.
Objectives:
1. The children will develop 3.11 Letter Recognition skills from the
Communication, language and literacy domain as they have the opportunity to
learn their alphabets by stamping each spongy letter on to construction paper and
sounding out each letter
2. The children will also further develop 5.3 Fine motor skills from the Physical
Domain as they have the opportunity to use their pincer and palmer grasp to hold
the sponges with their hands and stamp the letter on construction paper.
3. The children will also further develop 1.6 Cooperating skills from the Social
domain as they have the opportunity to exchange the spongy letters with their
peers.
Materials:
1 table
4 chairs
4 sheets of construction paper
4 bowls filled with paint
4 smocks
Implementation:
1. I will set up the four construction paper on each side of the table with four bowls
of paint beside each of them
2. I will provide the children with smocks so they wont get paint on themselves
3. I will ask some of the children some questions of what letter sponge their
stamping and if that letter is in their name
4. Throughout the activity, I will provide as much conversation with them to know
 if they could recognize each letter from their name.

Sensory Engagement:
Throughout the activity, children will also gain first hand experiences as they have the
opportunity to explore the shape of different letters by stamping the spongy letter onto
construction paper with paint.

Questions:
Throughout the activity, as the children discover and learn the shape of each letter in the
alphabet, I will ask some questions about what each letter is, if they could tell if that
letter is in their name and if they could describe to me of how each looks.
