Learning The student will demonstrate knowledge of the worldwide impact of World War I by:
Objective explaining economic and political causes, major events, and identifying major leaders
of the war, with emphasis on Woodrow Wilson and Kaiser Wilhelm II
Activity
During this lesson students will receive information on the root causes of WWI. The
teacher will present a lecture on this content, and use the smart notebook
presentation as a visual and interactive supplement. The presentation includes a map
of the belligerent European powers, and a color coded map of these nations colonies
throughout the world. Students will come up to the smart board and fill in which
colonial regions belong to which colonial powers to demonstrate the global reach this
conflict held. Students will also be asked to draw arrows connecting the European

powers whom were in alliance to show how entangled the world was on the eve of
war, and how one small event could plunge the entire world into war.
