Ladies and gentlemen,

As a student representative, I would like to share some of my experience how I am


finally able to master math subjects well. I always hope and pray to get excellent
results in each test. Same as expected by my parents, I try to achieve their
demands. So I was trying to study hard and give full attention while in class.
However, my hard work will not be successful without teachers’ helps.

Ladies and gentlemen,

I like to take mathematics as the example. I was one of the students are weak at
first. Difficulty in answering math questions made me feel humble and always get low
marks compared to other partners. So, I always make the exercise given from
teachers as well as additional training at home. But the real key for my success
today is the cost effectiveness of the teaching aids in the classroom.

Ladies and gentlemen,

As has been alleged by the four previous panels about the advantages of the use of
resources in mathematics, I also want to emphasize here that the application of
resources I was able to master mathematics easily. While in the classroom,
teachers use a variety of methods and approaches to facilitate our understanding of
the subject. Among them, he always uses printed materials and concrete materials
that we use to perform calculations. For example, when teaching the topic Solid
Geometry, he was using real models as teaching aids by using the 3-D Model. He
brought some 3d models like pyramids, cones and cubes. Using the model, we are
able to understand the concepts of geometry such as site, height, length and radius
of each geometric shape.

Ladies and gentlemen,

What I get when teachers use this teaching method is that I can understand math
concepts easily. Compared with past experience, many teachers teach using only
chalk and talk. This technique clearly difficult for me to understand mathematical
concepts, but after a taste of their own learning experiences using manipulatives, I
acknowledge the fun and enjoy learning. This is because I get to see myself and
feel what is meant as a base, such as a pyramid.

Using resources in mathematics also attract students to learn in the classroom.
Based on my own experience, when teachers bring printed materials for training
sessions, I was very excited because there is a figure that could induce me to
answer questions. Not only that, the teachers also took us to the computer lab to
view the website associated with the related topic of study. For example, the portal
pendidikan utusan that contains a lot of messengers’ notes, info and training can be
accessed by students.

Ladies and gentlemen,

I do not deny that, resources in mathematics also have weaknesses that cannot be
avoided. Although a lot of resources to help students, but it also has shortcomings.
The use of resources, teachers and students need a lot of cost for use in creating a
teaching and creative learning. In addition, the use of resources such as technology
such as computers sometimes have problems does not work properly or damage to
the LCD. This had occurred during the teachers want to show the topic of

Ladies and gentlemen,

Despite the shortcomings, because it does not affect learning, teachers can use
other alternative. I admit as a student and realized that math is fun and with the
availability of various resources, it is easy for students to learn in the classroom or at
home.
