1. To enable the curve to be set out in its predetermined position on the ground.
2. To allow or smooth vehicle operation at the speeds for which the highway was design.
3. To produce sub-division plan of chosen road curve by using traverse method, precise
leveling, detail survey and longitudinal and cross-section method.

DETAILING
1. To determine the reduced level at every station.
2. To get the location of every details accurately.
3. To get view about permanent details around the survey area such as building, drain and
tree.
4. To obtain detail data of surrounding features which to be plotted in a plan.

LONG-SECTION
1. To define the center line of the proposed construction in physically on the existing
ground surface.
2. To take the level along center line of any alignment at regular intervals.
3. To show the profile of the route as a side view or elevation.

CROSS-SECTION
1. To shows the end view of a section at the station center line.
2. To establish lines at right angles.
3. To obtain a true of representation on the ground profile as possible in the time available.
