We would like to welcome all of our pupils back to school after the Christmas holidays and take
this opportunity to wish all of our families a very happy and peaceful New Year.

Christmas Concert and Activities


The busking in Supervalu, Bunclody was a great success and was thoroughly enjoyed by all.
Thanks to all parents for providing lifts to and from on the day. We raised a total of €253.66
for the school.

Congratulations to all children on their wonderful performances in our Christmas Concert


and thanks to all parents and families for their support on the day/night. Thank you to all who
sponsored prizes for our raffle: Aldi, Glanbia, SuperValu, Sam McCauley, Steamers, ChemCo,
Eurospar, Dolls, Hair Junction, Sugar & Spice, Loftus Pharmacy, the Parent’s Association and
Fr. Keogh. And congratulations to all who won prizes! A total of €820.00 was raised. A donation
will be made to a local charity of the children’s choice. The children’s Arts and Crafts was also a
great success and again a thank you to the parents who helped out.
Our Christmas Jumper Non Uniform day raised €54.
We would like to thank S. Foley & Son’s for their involvement in our Christmas activities.

Open/Enrolment Evening
The school will have an open/enrolment evening on Wednesday, 17th January from 6-7.30 pm. All
are welcome to drop in; in particular any prospective children/parents. Please spread the word.

Parents’ Association News and


Notices
The Parents’ Association raffle went very well this year. A total of €793.43 was raised from
this event.
Thanks to all parents for their help and support. A big thank you for all the donations for the
Christmas hampers.

There will be a meeting for the Parents Association in the New Year, date to be confirmed.
The BOM thank the PA and its committee members for all their time and effort in organising
and coordinating all of the above.

Catholic Schools Week


Catholic schools week will take place on Monday, Jan 29th to Fri, Feb 2nd. We will host our
annual Grandparents Day on Wednesday 31st. All parents/grandparents are welcome to attend a
short prayer service and join in a fun activity with their grandchildren. More information to
follow.

First Confession : Tuesday, March 13th .
First Holy Communion: Sunday, April 29th.

Saving Stamps
Saving stamps continue to be on sale every Friday morning. As our school tours are being
organised at present it is a good way to save for same!

NCBI
We will host another clothes collection for the NCBI this month, so if you have any clothing,
shoes, books etc. to get rid of we would be delighted to receive it here from Monday, 22nd to
Friday, 26th January.

Active School Flag


We are very proud of our Active School Status; GAA training (hurling) will recommence every
Wednesday starting next Wednesday, 17th January. In February the children will be starting
Zumba Dance classes once a week, for six weeks. The cost of the dance class is €15 per child
for the six weeks, the BOM will subsidise the class and therefore parents are asked to pay €6
per child for the six weeks.
