2. Write 4 evidence from the text that shows discrimination towards Merrick in the novel “The Elephant
Man”.
1.Lead in – Teacher recaps the characters from the novel ‘The Elephant Man’.
ACTIVITIES
2. Teacher explains task : Students will read the summary of the novel ‘The Elephant Man’ in table form
and skim for the events/evidence that shows discrimination towards Merrick in the novel.

Skimming and 3.In groups, students discuss and write the possible events/evidence to support the given statement by
referring to the summary of the novel.
