Universal Design for Learning (UDL):

Students with poor handwriting have the ability to type their notes and their project. Students can change the
language setting to have programs run in their native language. Work can be done outside of the classroom,
anywhere with Internet access
Engagement: Options of language and symbols
Representation: Options for Expressive Skills and Fluency
Action and Expression: Options for Recruiting Interest

Lesson idea implementation: To first introduce the Cold War unit, I will play either a BrainPop video or a
Discovery Education video on the Cold War. Students will then do research via the school’s research database
to learn more about the Cold War. Students will take notes on Microsoft Word and save their notes on their
OneDrive account. For their project, I will have students use their notes that they made and create a mind map
with Buble.us so they can illustrate key events and people with specific counties, times, etc. The mind maps
will then be imbedded on our class website to present their work and for study material.

Reflective Practice: Because students are creating their own mind map, they are achieving high levels of both
Blooms critical thinking and LoTi levels. Students are limited to only using text on the free version of Buble.us,
so there are no visuals.
