Lesson idea implementation:

The teacher will start the lesson with the following question: “What are some shapes that you know?”
After leading a discussion, the teacher will show a short video created from Microsoft PowerPoint. The video
will be used as an opening for the lesson to allow the teacher to gage the understanding of the students.
The teacher will print out the mini book for the students to use during the lesson and during math centers.
For an extension of the lesson, the teacher will allow students to make their own mini book for those who
have mastered the skill.
Reflective Practice:
To continue learning the standard, I would create a matching game for students to match shapes to
their name. This would allow students to become more familiar with both reading and identifying shapes.
