„New York City”

New York is the most populated city in the United States, with its metropolitan
area being one of the largest urban areas in the world. It is located in New York,
abbreviated to NY, and has been the largest city of the United States since 1790,
and is also the first capital city of the state and the place of George Washington's
appointment as the first president of the United States.
New York attracts 50 million tourists annually, or more than 2½ times the
population of Romania. Everything in a city with only 8 million inhabitants.
Known as the "skyscraper town" or "Big Apple", New York has become my
favorite, quite close to what I think until now the preferred city: London. I think
that what attracts me to both cities is diversity and the fact that when you visit the
two cities you seem to feel like visiting a large part of the world. If London is the
most widely spoken city in the world, New York is where you can visit the "Little
India", "Little Koree", "Chinatown" or "Little Italy".
I arrived in New York during the Christmas season and what impressed me
was that the world really seemed to feel the true celebration. Even the beggars on
the streets were dressed in Santa Claus, not to mention all emigrants trying to make
money by selling hot dogs, fried nuts or baked chestnuts.
New York is the city of yellow taxis, business people with shawl shirts on Wall
Street, and emigrants coming from all over the world looking for a better living
and who do not even know 10 words in English (right next to the hotel I had a
neighborhood pizzeria where the vendor was from the Dominican Republic and
spoke nothing but Spanish).
Related to prices: The food is about the same price as ours, the fruits and
vegetables seemed to me a little more expensive, the clothes are super cheap if you
are looking well and the famous brands you find at much better prices than we do
(there are specialized shops in "permanent discounts" such as Century21 or TJ
Maxx), electronics are also cheaper and there are huge stores that only sell it.
Instead, all services are more expensive than we do: taxis, shows, public transport,
accommodation, tours, museum entries - all services. Still, you always feel like
you have not paid in vain: for example the metro is everywhere, there are so many
subway lines that there is a great risk of losing without a map in hand, but the price
is $ 2.5 for a trip. If you go to a New York show, you will not feel bad at all, even
though you will pay tens or hundreds of dollars.
The most famous places to be seen in New York are Central Park, Times
Square, Chinatown, Ground Zero, Wall Street, The Statue of Liberty and the
Brooklyn Bridge. I will soon make a personal top of the most beautiful places in
New York and I will also write impressions about each one. And do not forget that
if you want to visit New York you need a visa.
I Love New York!
