Infrastructure Improvements
- Rock fill widening and stabilization – deferred to 2039
- Pavement & maintenance repairs – 2019
- Road enhancements – deferred to 2039
- Chemong Bridge rehabilitation - 2022

Procurement and Contractual Issues

- Inflationary cost impacts due to deferral of widening and stabilization
- Expenses already incurred under current contract
- Renegotiation of major contract
- If unsuccessful, potential revoking of contract
- Potential for litigation against the County.

Regulatory Approvals
- DFO approvals may be not required to complete maintenance and
enhancements.
- DFO approvals would eventually be needed for any in-water work (2039).
Recommendation
Be it resolved that County Council receives the James A Gifford
Causeway Widening Cost Savings Opportunities report; and
That County Council endorse proceeding with the Causeway
Improvement Plan as being the lowest cost solution and as
previously approved by Council in the 10 year capital forecast.
