NARRATIVE REPORT ON THE SCHOOL-BASED

IN-SERVICE TRAINING FOR TEACHERS
May 23-25, 2018

I. INTRODUCTION

In support for the continuing professional development of teachers, a School-

Based In-Service Training was done at Annafunan Elementary School on May 23-25, 2018
with the theme: “Reiterating Adherence To and Strict Compliance of the Department of
Education’s Policies on Teaching and Non-Teaching Related Issues and Concerns.” The 3-
day INSET aimed to promote the continuous improvement of the teachers. Enhanced the
teachers’ professional knowledge, teaching skills and attitudes in teaching to improve
students’ learning. Revisited the Policy Guidelines on Assessment on K to 12 program.
Prepared an appropriate and adequate instructional materials to facilitate teaching and
learning process.

II. ACTIVITIES
To set the first day of the INSET and to prepare everyone to feel at ease despite
of the scheduled brownout, Mrs. Gloria Narag and Mrs. Cristeta Marco, the emcees,
started the opening program with vigor and full of enthusiam. The first part of the program
was started with the singing of the national anthem and followed with a prayer led by Mrs.
Marilou Cabalza and Mrs. Juliet Quinagoran respectively.

After the presentation of the participants and resource speakers by Mrs. Marites
Taguinod, MT1, an opening remarks was given by , Elmer J. Narag, Ph.D., the school head.
He emphasized on his message that our attendance in this 3-day training was very
important for it served as an avenue to gain new insights and for our self-growth and
improvement.
A very fruitful and inspiring message was delivered to us by Ma’am Aida B.
Talamayan, PSDS. She presented to us our roles by asking some questions related to our
duties and responsibilities as a teacher, faculty and principal. The most important insights
we gained from her message was to let us turn negative things into positive ones. Doing
things positively leads us to perform well and achieve best results of our actions.

Leveling of expectations was presented by Mrs. Juliet B. Alan, MT2, then the
session proper started right away. The first topic was all about the DepEd Order No. 40, s.
2012 (Child Protection Policy) and the resource speaker was Atty. Jeremy Jones B.
Maramag ,however, due to conflict of his schedule he wasn”t able to come to school. As
his replacement, Mrs. Juliet B. Alan, was the one who lectured the topic and she discussed
it comprehensively. During her discussion, Ma’am Juana L. Castillo, PSDS, came to monitor
the INSET and witnessed the presentation done by the resource speaker.
After the presentation of the first topic, Sir Elmer J. Narag requested to come in
because he needed to remind us about the activities to be done for the Brigada Eskwela
2018 and the Turning-Over of K13 Foundation Building. With our joint effort , we were able
to plot the things/activities needed for the said activities.

The second topic was all about the Review of Omnibus Policy on Kindergarten
Education (DO No. 20, s. 2018). The resource speaker should be Cora Pattaguan, Ph. D. but
she was replaced by Mrs. Rosemarie Talosig, MT1, due to her conflict of schedule, too. The
discussant presented her lecture in a simple way and she explained it intelligently.
The lunch brake was taken at 12:30.

In the afternoon, we took our session under the trees to breathe in fresh air and
made us feel more comfortable in listening to the topics on the Report of Operation on
Canteen including Statement of Financial Performance, Reorientation on DO No. 8, s. 2015
and DO No. 36, s. 2018, Updates on Early Language Literacy and Numeracy and
Presentation of Different Instructional Materials lectured by Mrs. Minelvy Agbugay, Mrs.
Sefronia R. Narag and Mrs. Florina Agaloos respectively. They discussed their topics
substantially.
On the second day, while waiting for Ma’am Joan Cacacho to discuss with us
about the Mandated PPAs of the SPG, we started making on the production of Instructional
Materials. At around 10:00 AM, Ma’am Cacacho came and she presented her topic with us
thoroughly and intelligently. She also informed us that each club advisers must apply for a
registration and make an action plans accompanied with Constitution and by-laws as a
prerequisite for the designation as adviser of each club.

Reiteration of the LIS Process was discussed by Mrs. Marites C. Taguinod, MT1
and followed by Mrs. Jesamyn Lozada, T3, who talked about ICT Matters. Both discussed
their lectures patiently.

Other topics as stated in the training proposal were not taken up by Mrs. Maricel
Quizzagan and Ms. Nerika Lei Andal and our principal due to important documents which
they need to accomplish on that day. Mr. Marlo Melad wasn”t able to make it also due to
other important matters he attended to.
On the third day of the INSET, we conducted first the Community Partnership
Meeting which was attended by some Barangay Officials, PTA and SPG Officers. This
activity was a part of our session which is in connection with one of the topics stated in the
training proposal. The meeting went on smoothly and the participants of the said meeting
made a commitment to support the Brigada Eskwela Activity.

Continuation on the Production of Instructional Materials by each grade level was

done on the last day. Each grade level displayed the outputs at around 3:00 PM at Mrs.
Jocelyn Dahay’s room.
We ended our INSET by way of conducting house to house campaign for the Kick-
off Ceremony of Brigada Eskwela through giving out of flyers to the constituents of
Barangay Annafunan East and West as part of the activities in the School Improvement
Plan for this current year.

As a whole, the 3-Day INSET was indeed a very fruitful and successful
one because everyone of us did the assigned task efficiently and promptly.
