Week 2
3 March:

This is the first day of our second week in the school. Today the students were starting a new chapter called

Decimals and fractions. The first lesson was about fraction and decimals. During this lesson students were

learning about how to write decimal and fraction numbers. Also, another skill they learn is how to convert

numbers from decimal to fraction numbers. Furthermore, they learned different ways and strategies with

fraction and decimal numbers. For instance: using grids to learn how we can represent numbers and see the

difference between them. During the center activity I was taking notes to monitor the students.

4 March:

The second day of our second week in the school. Students were doing hands on activity about yesterday’s

lesson which is decimal and fraction. The activities were differentiated by students’ levels. The activities helped

students to practice skills about decimals and fraction numbers. Also, the students were working together as a

group to find the solution in different activities. The classroom environment during this lesson was positive.

Because student’s behavior was fantastic, and they were following the classroom rules. Also, they were

respectful of each other’s. Finally, during this lesson I introduce math center activities during the lesson so the

students can make connection between the content of the lesson and what they are about to do.

5 March:

The third day of our second week in the school. Students in this lesson were learning about how to solve word

problems about decimal and fraction numbers. This lesson was led by the teacher. So, teacher was using smart

board to display the questions of the book for the students. She did one question by herself to show the students

different steps that they have to follow them in order to find the right answer. After that teacher divided the

question between the students to solve based on their levels. Finally, when the students finished solving the

questions. Teacher was checking their work and if they follow the steps. And give class dojo points for the

students.
6 March:

The fourth day of our second week in the school. The teacher started a new lesson which is rounding fraction

numbers. In this lesson the teacher used a variety of strategies, tools and hands on materials to help the students

understand the concept better. The first strategy that the teacher used is number line. By using the number line

to round fraction numbers, it was very helpful strategy for the students. Because it gives the students a very

good representation of the steps that the have to follow in order to round fractions in a very clear way.

Furthermore, Teacher used assessment strategy called peer assessment. In this strategy the students have to

assess each other work by observing each other work and to see if it is meet with the requirements of the lesson.

7 March:

This is the last day of our second week in the school. During this day the teacher made a revision for the

students about all of the skills and lesson that they learn about during the week. She prepared a differentiated

activity for different lesson for the students. This strategy helps both teacher and students. From teacher

perspective it gives her to evaluate the students to see if there are developing and the progress they made

during the week. Finally, from the student’s perspective they can evaluate themselves. Also, they will have a

chance to ask different questions about the lessons that they took during the week. So, they will have fully

understanding of the concepts.
