SLE PROPOSAL FORM

❏ Turn this in online on CANVAS.

❏ You MUST have a total of 15 hours planned out.
❏ Because this is a plan that is subject-to-change, you are estimating the amount of time
activities may take and you are estimating the date as well.
❏ Take a look at the 2018-2019 CMS CALENDAR before getting started. Take the planning
process seriously.
❏ I will not approve this form unless it is filled out in-full.

Directions: Please review the questions below. These questions are meant to help you focus on
exactly WHAT you will do with your 15 hours. It is your choice whether you fill out the 15 hour plan
first or answer the questions first. Just make sure this is completed.

1. Provide the original title of your junior paper.

Warp Into Virtual Reality: VR vs. Actual Reality

2. What was your topic about? What was your position (belief) about the topic. Give pertinent
details. Explain #2 in a paragraph or less. If you have changed your topic, explain it here.

My topic talked about VR and whether it could replace actual reality. My position on the topic
was that VR could not replace actual reality, but instead it could be used in many areas. These areas
ranged from gaming and entertainment to medicine and education. It has many adaptations to the
real world that can help improve our lives. For example, VR can be used to teach new doctors how to
perform certain procedures. VR can serve as an educational device by allowing students to
experience history as if they were there. My focus is going to be on VR and its many uses in a school
campus.

3. Explain the overall goal of your efforts by answering these questions:

a. Describe the community/ies you will focus on.

I will focus on the school community. I will study the effects of VR in a school
environment.

b. Where will you go to find these people?

I will find these people at Garinger.

c. Explain HOW the community will benefit from your SLE.

Many students and teachers will benefit by being introduced into a new and
innovative way of learning. VR provides so many capabilities that can improve how
teachers teach and students learn.

d. At the end of your hours, how will YOU know you helped this community? How will
you measure this? 2-3 sentences.

I will measure my success by reviewing the reactions of the students and teachers to
VR. If I receive positive feedback, that will determine that I helped. Also, I will measure
my success by getting people excited about actually learning. If I notice a student
actually interested about learning due to VR, that will tell me that I’ve helped the
community.

4. Will you have a mentor? YES or NO

**A mentor is optional, but it does get you extra points on your final project grade. You must provide
evidence of working with a mentor throughout your project, if you choose to have one.
