ABOUT DISASTER RISK REDUCTION MANAGEMENT

RESEARCH QUESTION:

1.How aware are the grade2 Santan students about Disaster Risk Reduction Management

2. Why do students need to be aware all about Disaster Risk Reduction Management?

3. What are their practice at school and at home to be prepared as the calamities comes?

INTRODUCTION:

“By failing to prepare you are preparing to fail”. (Benjamin Franklin, Founding Father of the
United States)Disater Risk Reduction Management describes the actions that aim to achieve the
objective of reducing risk. Historically, dealing with disasters focused on emergency response,
but towards the end of the 20th century it was increasingly recognised that disasters are not
natural (even if the associated hazard is) and that it is only by reducing and managing conditions
of hazard, exposure and vulnerability that we can prevent losses and alleviate the impacts of
disasters. Since we cannot reduce the severity of natural hazards, the main opportunity for
reducing risk lies in reducing vulnerability and exposure. Reducing these two components of risk
requires identifying and reducing the underlying drivers of risk, which are particularly related to
poor economic and urban development choices and practice, degradation of the environment,
poverty and inequality and climate change, which create and exacerbate conditions of hazard,
exposure and vulnerability. Addressing these underlying risk drivers will reduce disaster risk,
lessen the impacts of climate change and, consequently, maintain the sustainability of
development (UNISDR, 2015a).cham

Since there are frequent calamities that the Philippines encountered this past few months ,the
research is planning to conduct a study on how aware are the grade2 Santan students about the
Disaster Risk Reduction Management, for the preparation so if the calamities that might came
when when there is a class, and the researcher will kow if there is a need to conduct or not to
another drill and exercises about Disaster Risk Reduction Management in this respective class.
STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

Research Design

The researcher make a questionnaire , a descriptive research design ,because it best served to
answer the questions and the purposes of the study.

The questionaire is used for the uniformity. Each respondent receives the identical set of
questions. With closed-form questions, responses are standardised, which can assist in
interpreting from large numbers of respondent.

The Participants are the entire grade2 section Santan, wherein they will be given same
questionnaire and given a time to answer and reviewd each question and theyre answer will will
interpreted and group according to their answers.

The statistical treatment used is a multiple regression whioch contain dependent variable which
is the awareness and add many independent variable as the researcher can then use SPSS make
the analysis.
