Background

Dhoyocab and Beeyo xayramad Balleys “Earth dam” are major source of water for domestic use
and irrigation for surrounding farmers and at their current state, it may eventually fail and
become inadequate for fulfilment of their purpose of construction of providing water for
irrigation and domestic use. Failure of these dams would negatively affect the farmers in this area
where water scarcity is prevalent as they would not be able to get a continual irrigation water
during the dry season.

Early maintenance and repair is needed to prevent future failure of these dams. Components
need rehabilitation include; embankment, reservoir, spillway, intake structure and fencing. The
reservoirs are also heavily silted because of accumulation of silt from the surrounding area.

Dam sizes: Dhoyocab 100*80 m and Xayramad 70 * 90 m

Scope of the Works

The works involves but is not limited to the following:-

 Desilting of dam
 Repair of breached sections and repair of Embankment worn sections
 Raising Spillway by at least 1m. The spillway is founded on natural earth surface.
 Raising embankment by 1m or as determined
 Grassing/riprap protection
 Fencing
