III. TEACHING PROCEDURE
Teacher’s Activity Pupils’ Activity
A. Preparation
1. Performing Routinized Activities
a. Praying

B. Preparatory Activities
1. Review
What was the lesson that we have studied -Days and Months of the Year
yesterday?
Right.
What is the third month of the year? -March
How about the last month of the year? -December
I have here a set of jumbled letters in the
pocket chart. The words that you will form are
names of the days or months. Are you ready? -Yes teacher.
Alright!
I will give some clues in order for you to
form a word easier.
Are you ready? Now, let’s begin. -Yes, we are ready!
Birthday of Jesus
D M R E B E C E -December
Valentine’s Day
Y U F E B A R R -February
All Saint’s Day
O N E V E M R B -November
Flores de Mayo

2. Drill
Class I have here some unfamiliar words,
listen first as I read and repeat after me.
Understand? -Yes teacher.

Good!

3. Motivation
(Teacher presents a riddle to the class)
Class, try to answer my riddle.
Listen carefully.

It’s face is round but it has no eyes, nose

and ears. It has two hands that move on
and on. What is it? -It is a clock, teacher.

Very good! It’s a clock!

What time do you wake up every morning? (Pupils have varied answers)
What time will you go to school? (Pupils have varied answers)
(Teacher shows a real clock to the pupils)
Are you familiar with this object? -Yes teacher.
What do you call with this object? -It is a clock.
Very good! This is a clock.

Why do we need to use clock? -We use clock so that we can tell time.
Correct! For us to tell time.
What is the importance of time? (Pupils have varied answers)
(The teacher will give feedback about the
different answers of the pupils)

C. Presentation of the Lesson

1. Lesson Proper
(The teacher presents a clock)
What do I have here?
(Teacher calls a pupil to answer) - A clock.
Brenda, look at the clock, what does it -It has numbers from 1-12 and 2 clock hands.
have?Very Good!
Class, these are the two hands of the clock.
What are these two? - The two hands of the clock.
This short hand is called the
hour hand, it tells the hour.

What does the short hand tell? -Short hand tells the hour.
Right.

This long hand is called the minute

hand, it tells the minute of the clock.

What does the long hands tells? -The long hand tells the minute.

In one complete cycle of minute hand it is

equal to 60 minutes or 1 hour.
So, how many minutes in one complete
cycle of the minute hand? -There are 60 minutes in one complete cycle
of the minute hand.
Exactly! There are 60 minutes in one
complete cycle of the minute hand.

(Illustrate on the board)

From 12 to 1, there are 5marks representing
5 minutes, let’s count. -Children count the marks.

From 12 to 1, how many minutes? -There are 5 minutes from 12 to 1.

From 12 to 2, how many minutes? -There are 5 minutes from 12 to 2.
Yes, it’s 10 minutes.

How about 12 to 12, how many minutes?

Everybody count. -60 minutes.
Great! It has 60 minutes.

In 60 minutes, how many hour? -There are 1 hour in 60 minutes.

Very Good! 1 hour.

Again, what hand tells about the hour? -The hand that tells the hour is the short hand.
Correct, It’s a short hand.

What hand tells about the minute? -The hand that tells the hour is the long hand.
Yes, it’s the long hand.

Now, let us learn on how to read the time.

Are you ready? -Yes teacher!

Look at the clock, the hour points to 9 while

the minute hand points to 12.
What time is it? -The time is 9 o’clock

Everybody say 9 o’clock. -9 o’clock

We can write the 9 o’clock this way 9:00
How about when the minute hand points to -The time is 9:05.
1. What is now the time?
Good! It’s 9 o’clock and 5 minutes.

(The teacher call 1 pupil to write the time on

the board)
Trishia, please write 9 o’clock and 5 minutes
on the board?
Class, is Trishia is correct? -Yes teacher.

(The teacher sets the time using the clock on

the board and calls a pupil to tell the time
orally)

Now, get your improvised toy clock, set

your time at 7 o’clock.

(Teacher moves around to check whether all

pupils are able to set the time correctly)

(The teacher will give more examples)

So, did you know how to set and read a
correct time? -Yes teacher.

2. Fixing Skill/Practice
Group the pupils into 3. Provide each group
with a toy or improvised clock. The teacher
will show time on card. Members of each
group shows the time using the toy clock.
The first group to show the time correctly (The pupils do the activity)
wins the game.

3. Generalization
In one complete cycle of the minute hand,
how many minutes? -There are 60 minutes in one complete cycle
of the minute hand.
In 60 minutes, how many hour? -1 hour.
Very Good!

4. Application
“Game-Using Time Dice”
I will group you into 3, as I flash the card
time, you must set the time correctly on the board.
There should be cooperation by each group. I will
only show the card time only for 5 seconds. When
you hear the word “GO” it is time to you to
answer on the board.
The faster the group with correct answer
will win.
Do I make it clear? -Yes teacher.
Good!
Let us start!

IV. EVALUATION
A. Write the time shown on the clock:
B. Draw in the minute and hour hands to match the digital time:

V. ASSIGNMENT
Write your answer on your Assignment notebook. By using the clock:
1. Tell what time do you wake-up.
2. Tell what time do you go to school.
3. Tell what time do you eat your dinner.
