LESSON PLAN IN MATHEMATICS

(Grade II)

I.OBJECTIVES.
At the end of the lesson the students will be able to:
1. Know how to use the clock;
2. Appreciate the importance of the clock in daily living;
3. Show cooperation while doing the activities.
II.Subject Matter: Telling Time
Reference: Math Teacher's Guide page 327-330 Math LM page 229-232, Elementary
Mathematics Grade 2 2003 pp.117-118, Google (for the Images).
Materials: Numbers, card board, laptop, audiovisual, clock(analog and digital)
Valuing: to show solidarity and cooperation in making a task.
III.Method
A. Routinary Activities.

1. Greetings.

puzzle picture, you are going to complete the
puzzle. The first group to complete the puzzle
wins and get prize.

8 .Lesson Proper
By showing a real clocks(Analog\Digital)
ask these question.
 Do you have these at home?
 What are these?
 What do these tell us?

These are the clocks that tells the time in


different way. The digital clock tell the time
directly (example: 10:30) while the analog
clock tell the time using the short and the
long hand. But we are focusing on the analog
clock.
-Analog clock have 12 numbers
-The short hand tells the hour and the Long
hand tells the minutes. For examples: the
short hand is pointed in number 2 and the
long hand is pointed in number 12.We read it
2:00.
-A.M. means anti-meridian stands for
morning and P.M. means post-meridian stand
for afternoon.For examples: 12:30pm and
7:00 am.

Group 1 – Clock (write ng time) 7:45
Group 2 – Clock (tell time)
Group 3 - Clock (write ng time) 9:45
Group 4 – Clock (tell time)

What did you do to finish your activity?
It is important to have a team work in
doing activities? Why?

10.Generalization
How do you read and write time in an analog
clock? In reading or writing a time say/write
first the number hour and followed by the
number minutes. Use colon to separate the
hour part and the minute part ot the time.
