The Students– characteristics and learning needs

I handle three sections of the Grade 10 Science

Curriculum, I have observed that being Generation Z people,
they are really inclined and dependent to their gadgets. It is
evident because even when we are discussing, they can’t help
themselves to put down their cell phones and listen.
The three sections have different personalities and way
of listening and interacting with us. One of the three sections
has the most passive learners, they just want to listen to the
discussion, they don’t want to be called o recite or to participate.
We even had a hard time making strategies just for them to
interact. But we realized that even if we make strategies for
them, they are not really interested in participating in class.
The other class has the greater number among the three
sections. This is where being included in the Gen Z is so evident.
They are using they gadgets while listening and when their
attention are called they will say sorry and stop what they are
doing for a short time but will go back to their own business after
few minutes. This class contains the thoughtful students, they
know how to mingle with us.
The last section that we handle is the quiet but
participative class. When they participate and recite, they
always recite with essential answers. They are so attentive
when we are discussing.
I just realized that the learners have different
personalities, and each class has different atmosphere and
approach to be made.
