AUDIO CROSSOVER NETWORK OR DIVIDING NETWORK is an

electronic circuit that filters the audio frequency because individual

loudspeaker could not produce the entire audio spectrum. It improves
the quality of the sound. And also it protects the speakers from
unwanted frequencies.

PARTS:
1. High Pass Filter-high frequency filter (TREBLE) for tweeter.
2. Mid Pass Filter- midrange frequency filter (MIDRANGE).
3. Low Pass Filter- low frequency filter (BASS).
TYPES
1. PASSIVE
2. ACTIVE
PASSIVE- consists of capacitors and inductors or coils.

CAPACITOR (NON POLARIZED, 1uF to 4.7uF) is for tweeter,

(connected in series). It is used to protect the tweeter from unwanted
low frequencies.

COIL OR INDUCTOR is for the woofer (low frequencies).

CAPACITOR AND COIL is for the midrange.
ACTIVE CROSSOVER NETWORK- semiconductor components are used
in this circuit, it is better than passive type, because it separates the
audio frequency using different amplifiers for each driver. It is used in
high power applications with minimal power loss (efficient).
