CHAPTER 1
INTRODUCTION
Chapter One consists of (1) Background of the Study, (2) General and Specific
Objectives, (3) Research Problem, (4) Hypothesis, (5) Conceptual Framework, (6)
Significance of the Study, and (7) Scope and Limitation.
Part One, Background of the Study, presents the rationale that supports this
research endeavor. It gives the reason behind the choice of the problem and provides a
strong foundation for the conduct of this study.
Part Two General and Specific Objectives states the purpose for the conduct of
the study in general and specific terms
Part Three, Research Problem, presents the problem and states the general and
specific research questions that this study sought to answer.
Part Four, Hypothesis, states and advances the hypothesis that was tested in this
study.
Part Five, Conceptual Framework, presents the variables under study and the
relationship that exists between them.
Part Six, Significance of the Study, enumerates the persons and institutions that
might benefit from the findings of this study.
Part Seven, Scope and Limitation of the Study, includes the discussion of the
scope factors that limit the width of this study.
Background of the Study
Shoe polish is a waxy paste, cream, or liquid that is used to polish and shine
leather shoes or boots to extend the footwear's life, also to restore, maintain, and improve
its appearance. It is usually flammable and can be toxic.
Due to previous studies and researches, the researchers will try to conduct a study to test
if the main ingredients (charcoal and wax) can be a substitute for a commercial product
of shoe polish. This study will test its effectiveness and know whether if it is better that
the commercial product.
The researchers looked for ingredients that can be used as an alternative shoe polish. The
researchers researched and chose the wax and charcoal. Based on their researches, they
discovered that the characteristics of the charcoal can be found in a shoe polish. the
researchers decided to study and test if the combination of the charcoal and wax can have
a successful result as an alternative way to make a shoe polisher.
The researchers aim to produce this alternative shoe polisher as a cheaper alternative to
those commercial ones. This investigatory project will benefit us by producing an
alternative for oil. The other manufactured polish, nowadays came quite expensive prices
but in our project you will be spending less money since the materials to be used are
cheap and easy to find.
Research Problem
Hypotheses
1. The researchers believe that the characteristics enables the alternative output to be
used effectively like the commercialized shoe polish was the oil
2. The researchers think that the alternative shoe polish is a high glossy type of
shoes polish
3. The researchers think that the alternative shoe polish is the same with the
commercialized ones and that both will last just for a few days.
4. The researchers believe that it is effective
Conceptual Framework
Significance of the Study (free will to decide to whom the study will be useful)
One of the main benefits of a shoe shine is that is helps preserve the material that shoes
are made out of it. The researchers would like to prove the importance of the study of
wax and charcoal as an alternative shoe polisher. The findings of this study would benefit
many people like:
Entrepreneur
The result will benefit them for they can use this study to come up with new
enterprise or new business venture in making an alternative shoe polish.
Community
The result of this study will teach them that charcoal and wax should not be
wasted since it can be a useful product in making shoe polish.
Students
The result of this study would help students be presentable by polishing their
shoes. Instead of paying for expensive shoe polishers they could just make with charcoal
and wax that is cheaper so they save up their money to buy more useful things they need.
Indigenous people
There are also many individuals that can’t afford the commercialized shoe
polisher but with this study, people can now make their own with cheaper materials only.
Teachers
This will enable them to incorporate this new knowledge into their classes and
teach and influence their students. This could also help them to always be presentable in
school.
Future researchers
This study can help future researchers to improve this experiment with the
ideas and results the researchers had given. It could help them understand more about this
and it could help them understand why this study can really be a benefit to a lot of people
This study wants to determine the effectivity of shoe polish out of wax and
charcoal and compare it to the shoe polish sold in the market.
In order to know the effectiveness of the wax and charcoal to the shoe, the
researchers will compare the alternative and the commercialized shoe polish with 2
shoes.
Charcoal
In this study, charcoal will be used as the main ingredient of the experiment.
Shoe
In this study, a shoe will be the material that will be used to test the
effectiveness of the alternative shoe polisher.
