List of Issues for CM Ghiblee

PERSPECTIVES IN COMMENTS. I WILL BE WRITING A THESIS ON MAJOR DESIGN
POINTS AND WILL TRY TO INCLUDE BOTH SERVERS’ PERSPECTIVES. PLEASE
INCLUDE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

I do not intend for all these things to get addressed nor am I making this list to encourage or
discourage any particular item to be changed. This list is mainly to aid in record keeping of
player feedback and to allow the MapleStory team an organized list of topics of interest.

The list is created based on player feedback from various official and unofficial platforms,
particularly Reddit.​ It is loosely sorted by priority and urgency within each category and
sub-category, although such priority ordering is not necessarily proper because many issues are
important and hard to compare. For points with clearer solutions, I have included possible
options and developer resources.

Due to a large number of responses, I do not have an effective way of organizing or elaborating
on each bullet point. If there is a ​particularly concentrated need​ to explain a specific and major
point, please comment.

Major Game Design


Kanna/Kishin
- Kishin Shoukan from Kanna requires a second PC to use. It also forces players
to leech a second character if they want to acquire resources at a reasonable
pace
- Alternatively, such design practically compels players to create a Kanna at some
term in their progression given that certain crucial GMS costs are higher (see
Meso Value in GMS​) -- particularly in Reboot.
Gollux Shop
- Restock Gollux accessory shop infinitely to prevent one-time accessories from
being permanently inaccessible in case of an accident — particularly in Reboot
(e.g. dropping, selling, forgetting Safeguard during Star Force, etc.).
High-Level Content Restrictions
- Tenebris does not have significant incentives, discouraging any significant
gameplay there.
- One solution could be to make Arcane Symbol Selectors, as well as a
Droplet Stone “selector” or partial droplet exchange system, drop from
Tenebris monsters.
- Currently, assuming 1 droplet an hour, players would have ~240
droplets by the time they hit 255 (which is not enough, forcing
suicide or second mule).
- Level-based meso penalty in Reboot discourages leveling up and
pigeonholes players into certain level ranges and maps for optimal items
and mesos.
Badges / Hearts
- Badges w/ potential are inaccessible to new players and produces a significant
gap in power (e.g. Sengoku Badge).
- Permanent Hearts w/ potential are also inaccessible, presenting another
discouraging gap between existing and new players (e.g. Wondroid Heart) in
Reboot.
- Lategame permanent hearts from bosses to encourage the use of other
Androids beside Wondroid
- Add star and potential to Badge of Genesis for GMS-only to balance out
with Sengoku
Meso Value in GMS
- Higher GMS costs further exacerbate the Kishin meta and throw off meso value
balance crafted by Korean developers (e.g. Star Force, buff freezers).
- Boss Crystal values, Mysterious Meso pouches, Ursus, and other income
sources do not correspond well with GMS’ inflated meso value.
- One suggestion includes increasing meso received from Mysterious Meso Bags.
Inactive Servers and Population Density
- Closing extraneous channels for dead servers/world merge to concentrate
players within said servers.
- Introducing an even larger world merge to concentrate markets and raise the
market cap in goods and services exchanged.
Free-to-Play Accessibility
- Bonus Potential Cubes for Reward Points shop in normal servers to alleviate
pay-to-win barrier for free-to-play players.
-Allow NX items on Auction House as is in KMS (e.g. Red/Black/Bonus cubes,
pets).
- Introduce KMS-style RP purchasing of any cash item to encourage free-to-play
activity, thus inviting players back to play. This simultaneously increases
interaction with the Cash Shop, which boosts overall microtransactions and profit.
GMS Class Balancing
- KMS class balancing is not necessarily effective for GMS (e.g. higher attack
speed cap, longer binds from Kanna/Lucid earrings).
- Higher ping restricts many classes/skills, causing them to be relatively ineffective
- If tackling this issue, please request a master list of all ping-related skills; I
have not gotten around to finalizing the list for all classes.

Quality of Life
Combat Ease
- Quick equipment set swapping, particularly for drop rate gear sets during boss
fights, to avoid unnecessary loss of life.
- Freeze ​all ​buffs upon logout, including skills/potions/coupons, to promote a
continuous gaming experience.
- Allow disabling of UI transparency when in combat (or give us a slider to set
desired transparency).
Professions
- Increase the time required before Meister mastery starts decaying (suggested 24
hours+).
- Allow us to craft larger material, coin, soul, chair, recipe, and production bags.
Link Skill Management
- Remove daily link skill swapping limits.
- Increase the number of link skill slots in accordance with the extra GMS link skills
that we have over KMS.
User Interface
- Import KMS-style Cash Shop user interface.
- Include total %stat, magic and physical attack counter in stat window, just like
Star Force and Arcane Force does right now.
Item Management
- Increase number of damage skin slots.
- Collections for chairs/titles, similar to mounts and medals.
- Higher stack limits for certain items (e.g. Lucky Winter, Enjoyable Winter
coupons).
- Move Permanent Cash equips to Cash tab in inventory.
- For classes that use Ammo (i.e. Throwing Stars, Bullets, and Arrows), create a
bag to store them in, for extra inventory space).
V Matrix
- Introduce the ability to lock nodes for safekeeping to minimize the detrimental
effects of player error.
- Implement a select all button for extracting nodes to help expedite the extraction
process.
Miscellaneous
- Remove useless/outdated lines from item potentials (e.g. Apply Status, etc.).
- Remove Gachapon Jackpot Announcements or update them for the new Jackpot
Items.
- One button to recharge all throwing stars/projectiles in shops.
- Increase Eternal Flame drop rates for bosses, particularly for Reboot.
- Start boss pre-quests through Boss Queue tab.
- Makes boss pre-quest skippable if your account has completed the quest similar
to how the Black Mage event progress was account wide.
- Pet Snack for Reward Points shop, particularly in Reboot.
- Include boss cooldown timer messages to all bosses without needing to enter.
- Make Princess No secondaries be rewarded based on your class in Reboot, and
possibly increase the rates of obtaining them.
- Add the KMS maple memo system where you are able to send notes to any user
by paying 10,000 mesos for every note.
- Add a last seen online time for guild members to make active player monitoring
easier.
- Expand pet’s item ignore list and update it to be more user-friendly
- Full-screen windowed mode(makes the game multi-monitor friendlier)
- Cut out Von Leon/Pink Bean entry limit to one daily token. / Allow for a portal to
entry area instead, for accidental exits.
- Have the Soul Collector progress shared across all characters in a world

Bugs
Boss Mechanics
- Lotus energy ball multi-hit, the laser activation time is inconsistent.
- First Purple Ball in Phase 3 frequently hits instantly, before the animation even
plays.
- Damien spawning multiple swords despite not meeting spawn conditions..
- Lucid Phase 2 and Will Phase 3 sometimes play attack animations without
attacking -- usually only for 1 person of the party.
Drop Table
- Confusion Fragments do not drop from Arcane River mobs, despite being
Lv180+
- Arcane Symbol drop rates appear to be markedly lower than those of Arcane
Droplets, which was ​confirmed to not be intended​.
Equipment and Codex Inconsistencies
- HP%/MP%/DEF% lines on Lv151+ Legendary equipment are not Tier 4 (12%,
not 13%).
- GMS Codex is outdated and not all cards are obtainable, unlike in
JMS/TMS/CMS.
- Yu Garden black market shop does ​not sell all equips listed​.
- Familiars are despawned when entering certain maps (e.g. Ranmaru, FM,
Ardentmill).
Latency
- Change Channel can take multiple attempts to succeed.
- Dropping items can take multiple attempts to succeed.
- Bera has severe server latency issues, likely caused by bots.
Maps / Teleporting
- Commerci maps disallow Hyper Teleport Rock in only for characters that
complete the questline after ​the revamp​ removing Dawnveil from World Map.
- Kritias maps disable teleporting in/out (was fixed in KMS during Hekaton patch).
- Zoomed out World Map blue area nodes do not teleport to town, but to field
map(e.g. Esfera, Morass).
Movement / Skills
- Down jumping does not always activate on the first try, particularly in Spirit Savior
- Summon skills stop working if the character is too far (Spirit’s Domain, Maha’s
Domain).
- Corsair’s ability “wings” won’t always trigger flight/glide when holding down the
skill button.
Beast Tamer
- Meow Card buff occasionally causes the player to ​softlock​ forcing a relog.
- Fishy Slap’s hitbox will quite often be delayed.
- Majestic Trumpet doesn’t place fire on the ground about 10% of the time. The fire
also doesn’t ignore Damage Reflect.
- Beast Tamer’s Bear assault skill gets canceled if the user double-clicks during
the animation.
Cash Shop / Misc.
- Cash Shop crashes when purchasing a non-RP item after RP item purchase
- Certain cash equipment are not storable in Cash Shop (e.g. blockbuster hats)
Miscellaneous
- Certain non-KMS medals do not register to medals collection, such as the
Absolute Taste Medals, Guardian of the Five Elements, Senpai/Kouhai Sengoku
High medals.
- Offline members in guilds do not display levels/classes sometimes (??? instead).
- Kaiser combinational skill input commands do not function.

General Suggestions
Probability and RNG Rates
- Clarification for drop rate stacking for Lucky Winter/familiars.
- Publish in-game drop rates for boss items for both normal and Reboot formulas.
Nexon Management / Compensation
- Require international phone number for new accounts to minimize bot account
creation, in accordance with the 15-digit ITU E.164 ​The International Public
Telecommunication Numbering Plan​ format. One possible developer tool for
phone number verification is the ​Twilio Lookup API ​.
- Introduce 2FA for account security
- More memos and more polls, especially for non-KMS content.
- Possible topics: GMS changes currently in development or discussion.
- DMT / SF compensation events for falsely banned people.
- Customer Support improvements by creating game event record access tools for
third-party support vendors to better investigate and handle requests.
- Increase player tracking activity for customer support and respond w/
specific reasons for bans and ban appeals.
- Introduce community-based bot checks (e.g. Lie Detectors from KMS).
Gameplay / Content Adjustments
- Party Quest incentives for Arcane River.
- Equip exchange systems for classes with more than one kind of weapon.
- Revamp old content (e.g. CWKPQ, Neo City).
- Return holiday-themed content (e.g. Haunted Mansion, Happyville).
Cash Shop Items
- Fusion Anvil expansion (e.g. opposite genders, overall -> top/bottom).
- Regular stamp shop updates.
