L.C. arranges similar fractions in increasing or decreasing order (M2NS-111f-78.2).
I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, the pupils are expected to:
a. identify similar fractions in increasing and decreasing order,
b. demonstrate cooperation in the group activity, and
c. order similar fractions in increasing and decreasing orders.
II. SUBJECT MATTER
Topic: Ordering Similar Fractions

Concepts: Similar (like) Fractions are fractions with the same denominators.
Increasing orders when numbers are arranged from the smallest to the
largest number, while decreasing orders are when numbers are
arranged from the largest to the smallest number.

Materials: visual aids, cards, manila paper and a masking tape

a. Lesson Review

1. The teacher will ask about the last lesson.

b. Motivation
1. The teacher will show examples of fractions and let the
students identify the fraction (the numerator or the numbers of
part being taken and the denominator or the number of equal
parts into which the whole is divided).

C. Analysis
a. What have you noticed on the fractions? (about their numerators and
denominators)
b. What have you noticed in their arrangement?
D. Abstraction
a. The teacher will discuss the concepts behind the given fractions and
their arrangement.
E. Application (Activity)
“Let’s play cards!”
a. The students will be group into two and will be given cards, manila
paper and masking tape.
b. They will make similar fractions from the given cards then, arrange it
in increasing and decreasing orders and paste it in the manila
paper using the masking tape.
c. The first group will arrange their cards in increasing order and the
second group will arrange their cards in decreasing order
d. They will be given 5 minutes to perform the task.
e. The group that arranges more similar fractions will be the winner.
